New Kerry supporter looking for information dump on JK |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 10:09 PM by WillyBrandt
Long-time Kerry supporters,
I've been in your ranks just a week or two, but it's a nice place to be. Kerry was my choice before Clark entered, and is my choice now that Clark has left.
Some questions:
1. What's the nutshell version of Kerry's war-heroics? 2. What was his role in anti-Vietnam War activism? 3. What are Kerry's signature accomplishments in his term as a Senator 4. Which of his plans are you most enthused by?
I know Clark inside-out, I think, but I've got to admit I haven't got the same depth of knowledge about Kerry that I do about Wes.
Here's someone looking to get enlightened! Thanks!
On Edit: Changed JFK to JK in the subject

He's no John Kennedy. Calling Kerry JFK is unseemly at best.

6. My personal comments on your second question |
|
John Kerry and other anti-war vets may have saved my life
I turned 18 years old in early 1973, the same year the draft ended. It was people, especially Vietnam veterans like Kerry, who helped finally put an end to the madness that we now call the Vietnam War. There is a damn good chance that I would have been drafted when I turned 19 in 1974 and more than likely have been shipped off to kill and perhaps be killed in the jungles of Vietnam. I am unable to forget what people like Kerry did to help end that senseless war, and I will feel this sense of gratitude forever. And that is the truth.

It's a seven part series run by the Boston Globe last summer. I think it covers his career quite well, although I disagree with quite a few of the editorial comments. I admit to being more than a little biased though. http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061503.shtml
