Another Republicker claims: "I am not gay"
This is a follow-up to this piece of late breaking news (please disregard the implication that gay = wrongdoing.) Reprinted in full from http://www.columbian.com/news/localNews/2007/10/10292007_Curtis-denies-wrongdoing-says-he-is-not-gay.cfm

Curtis denies wrongdoing, says he is not gay

State Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center, caught up in a statewide media frenzy over an ongoing extortion investigation in Spokane, said Monday that he is not gay.

"I committed no crime," Curtis said Monday afternoon. "I did not solicit sex. I was trying to help somebody out."

Officer Jennifer DeRuwe, spokeswoman for the Spokane Police Department, said police expect to wrap up their investigation in the next one or two days and forward their findings to county prosecutors for a decision on whether criminal charges should be filed.

Curtis, 48, has been besieged by phone calls since news broke about the two-term lawmaker being the alleged victim of an extortion attempt.

4. It truly is amazing, isn't it?
Not all of them obviously, but way more than enough that it really should cause anyone who claims that the Republican Party is the party of morality to get laughed at to their face.

5. I actually think we should withhold judgement on this one. We do not know what happened. Just
because he is a Republican is no reason to pronounce him guilty of.....what? We don't even know. We need to be careful we don't engage in the Freeper practice of assuming the worst about political opponents.

As long as the outfit was not real slutty then it is O.K..

In 2005 and 2006, Curtis voted against a bill that granted civil rights protections to gays and lesbians.

In 2007, Curtis voted against a bill that created domestic partnerships for same-sex couples.

Both measures eventually passed the Democratic-controlled state Legislature and are now part of state law.

State Republican leaders have declined comment on the case.
