Why do people get so upset when someone criticizes Senator Clinton? |
|
On the one hand, we've been told that the Right wingers have thrown everything they have at her and she has proven she can take it. On the other hand, there are suggestions that she will be the nominee and therefore we shouldn't criticize her lest we arm the Right wing with new accusations.

stuff that rankles... and I haven't even decided my vote yet! I feel obligated to defend her because some of the stuff is so out there it's embarrassing.

20. Blaming the MSM is just a weak mental excuse. |
|
It gives an ego boost to the person (i.e. I'm smart enough to see through all the media distortions), and it means they never really have to examine their own candidate in an objective and clinical manner to see why their candidate isn't doing as well.

18. I agree, however, I don't feel compelled to defend her at all. |
|
I promise to not get nasty, really, I do, but her corporate ties will not make America better- it will sustain the problem, maybe a shade more appealing, but that's the extent of it.

I am a Kucinich supporter, and frankly will take any of the Dems over any of the Repubs, but I'm sick of the anti-Hilary crap that's been going around for the last 15 years or so. Most of the recent attacks just seem like more of the same.

5. I haven't see the suggestions |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 04:01 PM by ccpup
of not criticizing her because she may be the Nominee.
What I HAVE seen -- time and again -- are those Posters who unnecessarily insert a criticism of Senator Clinton into a thread that has nothing to do with her as well as Posters whose entire Posting History is, basically, one mindless, spittle-laced, hate-filled blasting of Hillary for everything under the sun.
But, again, I haven't seen -- and, as I don't spend 24/7 on DU, I may have missed the Post or Thread you're specifically referring to -- the suggestion that we NOT criticize her because she MIGHT be the Nominee.

7. I don't get upset when people criticize her. There are plenty of things |
|
I wish she'd do or say differently. But that's true of all the candidates -- no one's perfect.
On the other hand, I do get annoyed when people twist her words or actions, or those of any of the other candidates. The Rethugs don't play fair, but we should, certainly when dealing with other Dems.

Some supporters of all the candidates get upset when their chosen one is criticized. That's hardly breaking news.

11. I expect people to get upset when their candidate is criticized. |
|
What I'm questioning is the notion that criticism of Senator Clinton is being disloyal to the party because she will be the nominee and we should all get behind her and support her against criticism from right wingers.

10. Depends who and for what. If RW-ers do it for her being a woman or other wrong |
|
reasons, I get upset. If the criticism is founded - say for her voting record on war and such - I usually agree with it. It's really about issues, not the person with me.

Like how she dresses, or how she laughs ..... stupid shit like that shouldnt exist, let alone be fodder for DUers to cast about .....
I have NO PROBLEM with arguing the issues .... but some of the CRAP here (on all sides) reminds me of that other, unmentionable website ....
I wonder how those who thrust these daggers today will come around after the nomination and support the Democratic Party nominee ..... Where will all that angst, piss and vinegar go ? ..... Sublimated and expressed as funny looking knitted sweaters ?
