White House front-runner Hillary Clinton gave her opponents an opening to pound her as a double-talking politician with tangled and conflicting comments about Gov. Spitzer's proposal to let illegal immigrants get driver's licenses.
The flurry of jabs at Hillary, which began during Tuesday night's Democratic debate and kept coming Wednesday, signifies a new round in the prizefight for the presidency.

Democratic and Republican challengers alike maneuvered to exploit Clinton's image as a calculating candidate who, like her husband when cornered, would rather dance and weave around a topic than give a straight answer.
"She obviously attempts to finesse issues," said Mitchell McKinney, professor of communications at the University of Missouri.
For now, Clinton is the undisputed punching bag in chief.
Clinton staggered when she was asked near the end of the debate if she favored Spitzer's controversial licensing proposal.
