I don't care if Obama is pro/anti Gay! It worries me he doesn't know when to give in and cut losses |
|

Outside of the whole McGlurkin argument..., it is seriously worrying that Obama doesn't know when to cut losses and move on... Oh yeah, and the completely ignoring what people around you are saying is not so great either...
Does this sound like someone else we know? I don't think people want to put that kind of attitude in the WH again.
Combined with the sensitivity issue concerning LGBT issues this doesn't paint a good picture of the candidate.

While I strongly dislike the fact that he is willing to be anti gay in order to win, this whole thing sent some MAJOR red flags up...issues bigger than the fact that Obama's message of "hope" and "new kind of politics" is a sham....that he is stubborn, isolated and.....well similar to Bush in many ways.

3. Exactly, also everyone should understand I have redflags on just about everyone |
|
at the moment... I am still undecided...
Obama has time to right his ship, but what I see is worrying.

13. He *did* give in - to the McBigot supporters. Their $ means more to him. |
|
Because they have more of it, I guess.

2. We're going to get flamed, but I agree about the other flaws being paramount |

I've seen other parallels to the early days of junior in many posts trying to rationalize Obamas actions. I assumed, for a while, that I was just being paranoid. :) I don't think so any more.
I'll still vote for him if I have to, but I am wary.

5. I would also add to your list some of his early attacks through proxies on Hillary |
|
and yes, someone will flame us... However, I am not basing my choice on 'love' for any candidate...
DUers and some Dems in general tend to have a Prince Charming view of politics... so, it hurts when someone criticizes their boo...

since the day of the filibuster before that first debate. He isn't anywhere near ready in my eyes.

11. Exactly... Hillary is winning right now by presenting herself as a competent pragmatist |
|
This cycle is quite simply...:
It's the competency, stupid!
Sen. Obama has yet to realize that. In fact, everyone but Hillary hasn't realized that.
In act, if Rudy take the nomination on the opposite side it will be for the same reason. He presents himself as a competent and sometimes pragmatic former mayor.
We may not like it, but I think that's where most of the electorate is right now from all ideological quadrants.
The incompetency of the past 8 years have made people hungry for competent leadership. Issues will be almost superfluous this time as people search for this ideal in the candidates.

6. purely rhetorical that! in answer to other threads ongoing |
|
I do care... but EVEN if you set that aside for the sake of argument there are other worrying things about Obama's reaction to the issue that don't bode well in a CINC.

14. I'm way more concerned about him bringing up the phony SS "crisis" issue, myself |
|
I mean, if we're going to discuss something that actually affects people, as opposed to splitting hairs over how he should/shouldn't handle homophobic jerkwads who happen to support him...

that he wouldn't give an anti-gay bigot the mike at one of the concerts he put together and let him speak his bullshit at the end of the concert. Nothing says "I support you" like giving a mike to Mr. "God cured me of the gay."
Sheesh.
