Sen. Clinton's driver license comments are being way overblown.
Its silly. I understood exactly what she meant and she made perfect sense. Although her answer does reinforce what many consider to be one of her weaknesses, the inability to commit to a position. Tweety, Potato Head and all the rest of the empty talking heads are making a big deal out of nothing.

What concerns me much, much more is the secrecy regarding her records as first lady. She continually asserts what "we" did in the 90's. If she is running on that record she needs to show some transparency.

besides, it doesn't hurt to change the subject from singing bigots for another candidate...

I agree, her answers were fine, its the spin that's bs.

10. I did. It's a lot of crap. I suspect that anything harmful will be redacted and
the records will just appear on a table somewhere, like her billing records at Rose Law.

5. Front runner theory
As the front runner, she is doing her best not to say or do anything to inflame anyone. So she treads the middle-ground and won't give her position on anything. And no one really seems to care, at least now. But at some point, the voters are going to want to know her actual position on something, not simply that she will consider all options and make a decision at a later date.

I want transparency from ALL politicians. Whether it's Cheney's energy task force notes or HRC's policy meetings with the Pres.

6. Of course...
Her secrecy about her records is a bunch of shit and you people know it.

The NARA HAS SAID OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER about 100 times. That they can not release the records till first permission was given by the INCUMBENT PRESIDENT....then they had to be researched for what can and can't, by order of the executive order by bush, be released. They have ((((((((((((((7)))))))))))))))))) CLERKS to do all the search and release.

But then you all know that. It has been in the news 50 times. But it sounds so good when you can post your lies and think some believes them. If I were you before you post the lies, you should research your information. After all there are a lot of people in this country who read about the NARA, who know about the NARA and who also read the news release. You evidently don't since I think this has been posted seventy leven lying times.

13. I have read in numerous sources

the the problem with releasing the health care task force
records really is a matter of too many pages and too many
FOIA requests and too little manpower to get it done.

11. she clearly stumbled

but I really don't think this issue has legs in the democratic
primaries. the rethugs will make it one in the general, but I
don't see the immigrant drivers license answer in the last
debate than anything worse than being a nick.

if Edwaama* can spin that one answer into a question of her
basic honesty and/or integrity, it is a different situation
entirely, of course. but I would assume some other tempest
in a teapot will arise in the next few days and distract the
MSM.

16. Policy right or policy wrong? Don't care. Politically Dumb!
I truly hope that Hillary's most recent debate snafu about drivers licenses for illegal immigrants in New York will wake her up to American political reality: people vote on emotions, not logic, and not practicality.

It took the Democrats decades to finally concede that publicly supporting gun control was political suicide, except in very rare situations. Personally I prefer the common European model of outlawing all guns except for hunting and legitimate law enforcement, to include tough penalties for any illegal gun possession. As a candidate in the gun-religion culture of the USA, however, you'd have to be a blinded idiot to not realize that such advocacy would neither get you elected nor ultimately further the cause of even modest gun control.

Illegal immigration is the new "hot button" emotional issue. Just like guns, for many it is a black and white topic, practical interim and partial solutions be damned.

Whoever wins the "which issue is most important" war in 2008 will determine the outcome. If Democrats can make the issue ending the disastrous and costly war, Hillary wins big time. If Republicans can shift enough attention to "fear and prejudice" (their specialty) about illegal immigration, they win. That is, of course, unless the Democrats suppress their overly idealistic tendencies, and get ahead of this "emotional" issue. After the election, they willl have a better environment to thoughtfully address practical solutions to complicated problems.
