Hillary 'no stranger' to piling on
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/11/02/444746.aspx

From NBC's Mark Murray
We missed this AP piece by Ron Fournier: "Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is looking for sympathy, support and political cover as her rivals show the temerity to run aggressively against the Democratic presidential front-runner. But don't feel sorry for her -- Clinton is no stranger to 'piling on.'"

"In fact, she's an expert at it. Ask anybody who stood on the marble floor of the state Capitol rotunda in 1990 and heard the click, clack, click of her low-heeled shoes approach the news conference of Tom McRae, a mild-mannered public servant who had the nerve to challenge then-Gov. Bill Clinton of Arkansas for re-election."

Fournier also writes this: "Clinton's advisers, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss internal matters, said there is a clear and long-planned strategy to fend off attacks by accusing her male rivals of gathering against her. The idea is to change the subject while making Clinton a sympathetic figure, especially among female voters who often feel outnumbered and bullied on the job."

1. Whatever Serves In The Pursuit Of A Higher And More Laudable Goal
Like Brother Malcom said; "by any means necessary."

4. Spoken like a true DLCer.
I thought that "by any means necessary" was a prime tenet of the Straussians.

But I think Jean Paul Sarte coined the term first.

2. Fournier apparently has no idea what pile on means. The example he gave was a straight up ambush.
Beautifully executed by the way.

The other example he gives is this

And this isn't her first rodeo. Remember, it was Clinton who defined and defied the "vast right-wing conspiracy," and who lashed out — or piled on — critics of her health care reform efforts in the early 1990s.

So is the author just a moron or desperate to make his anti-Hillary screed relevant?

3. oh please
Ron Fournier has had his catty claws out for Hillary since Day One. In June he wrote in the Washington Post that she was an "Artful Dodger". In August he claimed she was a "drag' because her negatives were too high. He also claimed she was "too experienced" before claiming she spent all her time defending Bill. I don't know that he's necessarily someone who's going to offer an unbiased view of her.

8. She can't run on issues --
she'll get slaughtered. She has to run as the poor, victimized woman. If someone crticizes her, it has to be due to her sex. Her positions on the issues must remain off the table. She's just too damn wrong to let her real ideas come to light.
