"Hillary's Nomination Chances Just Dropped From 80 to 50 Percent"
Newt Gingrich: Hillary's Nomination Chances Just Dropped From 80 to 50 Percent

Newt Gingrich called in to Sean Hannity's radio program to discuss Hillary Clinton's debate performance. Highlights:
“Her performance in that debate was so bad, on issues that matter so much, she may not be able to recover from it… This issue of Spitzer trying to give out driver's licenses to people at a time when your driver’s license allows you to vote — for her to trap herself into saying that creates a big wound…

The fact that she said she’s basically sympathetic with Rangel’s trillion-dollar-tax increase — that’s going to arouse some deep opposition. The huge Democratic tax increase allowed us to win in 1994… Then, I saw in a ticker on Fox News, when Sen. Edwards said nominating her would be ‘a victory for a corruption machine’… it brings back a lot of memories of the Chinese funding scandals of 1996… It takes her winning the nomination from an 80 percent likelihood to a 50 percent. It’s even money. If she doesn’t turn this around quick, I may have to call back in and take it even lower.”

Newt wants senators to try to get an amendment on a bill banning states from offering driver’s licenses to those who are in the country illegally.

18. Not surprising at all
it seems to be a pattern. As long as she holds her own agaisnt the attacks, she gains.

She is still my second choice, but I am getting tired of all the others trying to make truly non-issues into something to chip away with.

6. Consider the source of the comments.
I think the GOP memo went out to say that HRC's debate performance was "disastrous" because they are scared. She's beating saint Rudy in the polls, and they are trying to smear her and label her a failure. They've been trying to do this with all the front runners (remember all the "Osama--oops I meant Obama" smears, and John Edwards' alleged affair), so don't be fooled. They are just trying to swiftboat the Dem candidates.

20. Ted Kennedy said this
Why don't we just ask Osama bin -- Osama Obama -- Obama what -- since he won by such a big amount. Seriously, Senator Obama is really unique and special.

10. sounds like newt is copying DU obama fans again....
“Her performance in that debate was so bad, on issues that matter so much, she may not be able to recover from it… This issue of Spitzer trying to give out driver's licenses to people at a time when your driver’s license allows you to vote — for her to trap herself into saying that creates a big wound…"

considering the entire debate premise was whacking hillary clinton as often as possible, from the podium positioning to the questioning, her performance was nothing near the disaster many people would claim it to be. Unfortunately for the people who think Hillary Clinton is the devil reincarnated and who will not support the democratic party nominee if she is that nominee, nobody stoned her to death in the name of their faith based myths, nor was there any knockout blow delivered by candidates who are far behind her in multiple polls.

the "debate" whack-hillary event merely demonstrated that any of the democratic candidates would be better than any of the republican candidates IMO.

13. The House "check kiting" affair had more to do with the GOP
winning in '94 along with Democratic arrogance and complacency than any tax increase. Newt and the GOP were in the right place at the right time in 1994.

17. This is an issue I just don't get
why do people want unlicensed drivers running around the country? Couldn't you just put...."Not eligible to Vote" on the driver's license? I'd feel much better knowing that all these drivers just didn't get their licenses from a crackerjack box. Besides that Gingrich is a non-entity and bloviating on the Halloween hater's show won't help.

This illegal license thing is just to help make it easier to "hire" illegals to do work.

33. So I see that's it's come to using Newt's Gingrich's talking points
Hillary must be doing really well compared to her rivals to have their supporters quote him as an authority on political analysis. Desperate is kind of a harsh word and I would prefer to refrain from using it, but I can't think of a word more appropriate at this time.
