Does anybody know what the Senate voted on yesterday?
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 12:08 PM by gateley
I read where Biden cancelled a campaign appearance NH because he wanted to get back to DC for a vote -- anybody have any idea what it was? I'm thinking it must be pretty important for him to do that, but I haven't seen anything about it. Thanks.

Edit because my subject line made no sense at all.

1. SCHIP (the post-veto version), I think. It was voted on in the evening.

3. Thank you both - isn't this a big deal? Is it in the news at all?
Did it pass? If so, what exactly does that mean?

Thanks again! :headbang:

16. I just read on another thread about this that Wyden's wife had twins yesterday.
I think he deserved the day off.

7. According to the Senate roll call the big bill yesterday was the Injured Serviceman's act

8. I clicked on "All Information" from your link:
Title: To amend title XXI of the Social Security Act to extend and improve the Children's Health Insurance Program, and for other purposes.

I'm confused - do you understand what the deal is?

EITHER WAY, it seems it's good whatever it is passed because all the "good guys" (Kennedy, Kerry, Biden :7) voted "aye".

If it IS SCHIP, does this mean they overrode the Veto?

I'm REALLY confused!

Thanks for any enlightenment :hi:

9. I goofed, it was the expansion of SCHIP, it was just called some thing different.
I think this is the SCHIP bill resubmitted with few changes.

They are challenging Bush on this.

11. Big news to us. I think the House has to do their version as wellbefore sending it to Bush.
We'll likely see more press then....at least I hope so.

14. Unfortunately it is not big news
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 02:56 PM by Inuca
because it all went exactly as the previous round, and that was known in advance. The House voted on the new version on SCHIP a few days ago, of course it passed, and of course it did not have a veto proof majority. It now passed the Senate, veto proof, but it does not matter because there will another veto and the votes are not there in the House. Heard this morning that the repubs in the Senate forced a vote yesterday and did not want to allow for more time for discussions in an attempt to reach a compromise (which I assume would have then gone to conference with the House).

13. Any one want to doubt how committed he is, or would be?
What other candidates have actually cancelled campaign stops?
