So Mukasey will make it out of committee.

God, I dislike Feinstein!

1. She is useless. What's up with Chuck's vote, is it cause
Mukasey is a New Yorker or is he just a chicken shit?

7. Why? Can't he change his mind gracefully?
This seems to be a basic political skill. If Schumer can't manage it, he should consider another career.

8. You're allowed to change your mind. We are talking about the AG and torture here. It hits us all as
a nation, which is more important than Chuck's ego or friendship with Mukasey. These two need to have a little backbone.

3. Schumer proposed him in the first place, thinking he would make a good choice.
Apparently he didn't know what his position on water boarding was going to be.

2. Yep, and he only needs 51 votes on the Senate floor. 49 R's plus Lieberman and you're almost there.

5. So where does that leave the vote count in the Judiciary Committee?
Are there any Dems who still haven't said how they'll vote? Any chance Specter might vote against him?

6. Of course. Schumer wouldn't want to be accused of the dreaded FLIP FLOPPING
Because we want politicians who never, ever change their mind at all for any reason :eyes;

14. Life does not revolve around Hillary, you do know that, don't you?
But to hear some people around here, the fact that I had a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch was part of the Clinton Conspiracy.

12. Wonder what old Bush talked to her about in the plane ride?
"The fires? Oh Diane, get over it...heh, heh...FEMA will take care of it. Now about that Attorney General vote....."

16. I've finally had enough
I'm sick of fighting my own party. They have no intent of stopping Bush from getting everything and anything he wants, including another atty general who supports torture and will bend the law to Bush's will. The Dems are as bad as the Repugs. Why should we continue to fight against Bush and for our Constitution when our party won't??? No doubt they will blow the election for the Presidency, too.

17. Liberal voters to Dem collaborators:
Thank you sir, may I have another!

Don't worry, we'll still vote for you! I doesn't matter *what* you do.

19. Well, when Schumer picked Bob Casey to run...he said we couldn't worry about issues
like women rights. I guess he can't worry about individual rights either.
