What would have been an appropriate costume for Hillary on SNL other than a bride/witch ? |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 02:53 PM by cryingshame
I'm curious, what would DU'ers suggest making Hillary dress up as on SNL.
What would have been an appropriat way to lampoon her?
BTW, was making Lucy the witch in the Charlie Brown cartoon means Charles Schultz was sexist?

16. Non non-entities, just indistinguishable from one another |
|
Not terribly fair, but I don't think you can expect much subtlety from SNL.

19. I don't even expect comedy anymore. Not since the early 80's. |

How much more inconsequential can you get than a cartoon character that has never made any sense.

Sort of a bizarre thing to be curious about. Of course the answer is - nothing. |
|
The skit wouldn't have worked with anything else.
With everything going on in the world, you're curious about what else SNL could have dressed her up in?

5. Lucy was dressed as a witch. |
|
Hillary was assumed to be dressed as a witch --even though she was dressed as a bride.
The "joke" being that Hillary looks like a witch even if she's not trying to.
Decidedly different.

17. I'm told she has to watch it when she laughs because |
|
it sounds a bit like a cackle. I don't think she alone was the butt of the skit. Obama seemed like the only one who escaped unscathed. Who believes in witches anyway?

so I'm not sure what SNL's point was. Of course I also don't think Obama in an Obama mask is smart either. No matter what he was saying.

12. Hey! you just struck on a much funnier concept for a skit! Hillary as Bridzilla |
|
more evidence that just about ANYONE is capable of coming up with better material than SNL.

but you see, Wonder Woman is a POSITIVE reference - a brave, courageous woman fighting in the usually quite masculine superhero context. But, we can't have POSITIVE caricatures, can we? So much easier to slip into banal, bigoted stereotyping. And it gets such good, cheap laughs.
And, btw, the Wonder WOman costume could have been used to lampoon Hillary taking herself too seriously as the saviour of the planet - the inevitable president.

20. There's another great idea for a skit. How does SNL stay on the air? You came up with a better |

concept just off the top of your head.
