Not to be outdone by anyone, Senator Clinton plays the race, gender AND religion cards all at once
This overt appealing to religion by the top two contenders has become a truly nauseating habit of late.

2. She's Married To Michael Eric Dyson And She Happens To Be A Progressive
Rev. Dyson is a native of Chicago, where she attended high school and the University of Illinois and Chicago State University, where she graduated with a degree in business. She served as the first chief of staff for Operation Push's International Trade Bureau under the leadership of Rev. Jesse Louis, Sr. Rev. Dyson became a prominent media and public relations specialist, serving as a vice-president of some of Chicago's leading public relations firms, including the Margie Korshack and Robert Dale Agencies. She was also appointed by Mayor Richard Daley to serve as the Public Information Officer for the Mayor's Office of Special Events for the City of Chicago.

In recent years, Rev. Dyson has gained wide notice for her lucid, eloquent essays that have probed the personal, political and religious dimensions of the black female experience. She has treated the historic strengths and gender inequalities of the black church. Her path-breaking essays on these subjects have appeared in Essence Magazine, where she serves as a Contributing Writer. Rev. Dyson is busy at work on several books, including a novel entitled Don't Call Me Angel that explores the spiritual development of an African-American woman, as well as the cultural and racial elements of the sixties and seventies, and a spiritual memoir entitled God Sings Soprano: Discovering the Female Voice of God. Whether she appears in the pulpit, on the auditorium stage or the printed page, Rev. Marcia L. Dyson is one of our country's most provocative, insightful and healing voices

5. I saw her husband on TV. He said he supported Obama while his wife favored Clinton.
It would be fun to eavesdrop on conversations around THAT dinner table.

and calls out another candidate for playing too many cards.

6. That's what most of the deck consists of.
The card-calling-out card.

4. The Catholic swing to Bush helped determine the last two elections.
Anyone who ignores the importance of religion to the majority of Americans does so at his or her political peril.

14. When the local collector for the Sky Boss' protection racket comes around, ya tend to take notice...
"Nice little soul ya got there; wouldn't want it to BURN TO THE GROUND, wouldja? For ETERNITY?"

Using the christian religion in politics is a mild version of playing the fear card. Since so many believers think that members of the clergy are somehow closer to the Big Guy (or Gal), their word means much more: it's an endorsement from god. Not going along with it can garner you the big booga-booga.

9. Just the fact that she's able to juggle 3 acts simultaneously like that proves she's brilliant
I agree how nauseating it is when the candidates appeal to religion, but they all do it. They're all just as chickenshit as the next one that they might lose out if they don't suck up to the evangelicals. Hillary just does it more effectively because she comes off as so sincere, and like you pointed out, she can do it at the same time that she's making herself attractive to the other factions, too. How she can do all that at the same time proves she's an incredible candidate. Hillary raises the bar, she really does.

11. True. Hillary is a good "performer".
Her "stand up" is excellent.
Her script writers are excellent.
She is well rehearsed, and has a depth of ambiguous stock answers for any question.
She can fool most of the people most of the time.

It is only when she is called on to give a specific answer to a specific question on a specific issue that she falls apart.

Hillary definitely gets my vote for "Best Stand Up Entertainer".
She does NOT get my vote for President. Until she Takes a CLEAR STAND on the issues she won't even get my consideration.

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

13. They do NOT "all do it", and there's a reason: it's greasy
The only people I see among the Dems who are sending out members of the clergy are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Meanwhile, Edwards is bringing up the separation of church and state, using the term itself, in his speeches.

The equivocation that "everyone does" something is sleazy justification even when warranted, but it simply isn't in this case.
