Schumer calls on emergency aid
For seniors and low income people to help with heating bills this winter. Home heating oil is going for $3+ per gallon.

5. Why should he shut up
He is doing what he normally does, championing progressive causes and trying to help the poor and elderly.

8. True, Just because a politician votes the wrong way on occasion
doesn't make him/her a stinking Rethug that deserves condemnation and is treated like a traitor to the Dem party.

6. The neo-liberal economics of Schumer and the other DLCers probably impoverished these people!
Who knew that unfettered capitalism could leave some people behind? At least Chuck is willing to throw the "also rans" a bone. :sarcasm:

7. Hubby was just told by our Oil Delivery Co. that the price will probably reach $4.00
a gal. this winter. We use a lot of oil and our bills will reach $600 dollars per month...maybe more if we have an extra cold winter.
It almost seems cheaper to close up the house for the winter and head for Florida.

9. you cannot really
"close up the house"

You would still need to keep the house minimally heated to prevent pipes from bursting.
