A note to consider: the press needs the Democratic race to be a contest; they are flogging Clinton |
|
I look at, and post, lots of articles. I'm a supporter of another candidate, but I want to note that Senator Clinton is being flogged on a sustained basis right now. While I could support any of our candidates, and like them all, I know many here think this flogging is long overdue. And that's okay.
But the point I want to make was made by Pat Buchanan (sorry, he's not a favorite of mine either) repeatedly on MSNBC yesterday. The press needs a contest from the Democrats to sell their coverage, for people to watch and read it. They were afraid Clinton was running away with the race, and both her supporters and detractors must realize that they will do whatever needs to be done to make the Dem race a horse race. She will be covered harshly until they get the race they need.

5. That, I assume, will come with more gusto for the general election... |
|
when they will pick out some tic or other from our candidate, and flog him or her to death.

The media is a non-entity once a candidate is the presumed nominee.

8. Or they focus on Hillary to get RW base energized and united to generate RW $$$ flow |
|
The corpmedia was probably not too happy that so many Democrats were complaining that we were having Hillary shoved down our throats by that media, so they switched gears a bit to get rank and file to sympathize with her, instead. Which would also have the desired effect of energizing the RW to unite behind their candidates in anticipation of a President Hillary.

10. You make a good point. They are magnifying everything now, way out of proportion, and |
|
there seems to be little focus on anyone else's campaign, R or D--I hope there isn't permanent damage being done to our nominee in their quest for an interesting horse race.

IMHO. The whole inevitability thing is bad for the process.
