and I think that he would be the best one to go against any candidate, repub or democrat..I would like to know what everyone is looking for in their candidate. I think that the candidate should be well informed on all issues, and can think on their feet and is the president of all people and not just a few. I also think that Hillary and some of the others display these characteristics but I think that we need some one that can win and that can face off with the repubs.

and I have always said if Biden every gets a chance to speak he would shine. The media wants to tell us who the candidate is but if anyone looks at them all seriously I can not see how they believe that Obama and Edwards are the top candidates. I would love to see what happens with these caucauses and primaries...

It is easy to tell that he is comfortable with his ideas and can relate them without the pauses and stumbles. We all know it helps to know your subject when asked a question in school. When you are not sure or uncomfortable with your answer a person tends to wander through possibilities and pause often, not so with Biden. His demeanor is classy with a great way of joking politely about situations. I liked Howard Dean a lot but Biden seems to have it together better than Dean. Dean lacked political experience for one thing.
The other candidates were again, so scripted and the script wasn't that good. The "2nd tier" did the best last night.

I'm sorry.
But I've always felt that way about politicians that try to sell me on their humor. It's like nerds trying to pretend they're cool.
Biden's also a bigot and I don't want to have to suffer through the stupid things that come out of his mouth for the next four years. He got caught with his pants down twice in less than a year.
He's the Democrats "Maccacca" candidate.

Clean is still a complement. and i have a joke for you... if you have a sense of humor... "the world needs to be a fairer place. so I am going to move to Calcutta and become a taxi driver." do you find that insulting? remember you have no right to not be insulted. rethugs think they do but no one has. you can only be insulted if you allow your self to be. and if you think Clean and articulate are insults you sir have the problem. please go watch Sesame Street again. not for the letters and numbers, as you are articulate. but for the lessons on race relations. Because you are the bigot I see.

11. Hi, themaguffin! Welcome to DU! And what a great quote from Biden. |
|
In my mind (yeah, I know), I see him pulling ahead of the pack because of his experience and qualifications. But it's not only that - it's how I perceive him as a person and how he responds to questions so openly and honestly.
And again, welcome -- we're glad you're here :hi:

He may be technically wrong about how to deal with Darfur. But when he said we needed to send troops in there because people are dying... well, his was the lone voice on that stage on taht issue, which clearly no one had bothered to poll their focus groups on.
Of course no one jumped on him for being rash or inexperienced in the executive branch for making this suggestion (or rather for suggesting this imperative). They all defer to Biden when it comes to actually running the country.

18. One really good point he brought out last night was that he already does have |
|
the respect of the Republicans, and they know his work ethic. He understands the workings of Washingto, knows the leaders of other nations and they know him. I loved the way he cut through the chaff last night and just said what he thought, outright.
My feeling is that he knew he was getting short shift from Short-Blitz, so whatever meager amount of time he had, he was going to get to the heart of the issue. That's what may have produced those concise, clear and unembellished opinions he expressed. It served him well!

Edited on Fri Nov-16-07 01:15 PM by gateley
well in any comparison:
- on paper, comparing his voting record, legislation, etc., side by side with the others - on the radio - getting the substance, hearing the actual questions answered rather than non-answers (and isn't that ironic that "Biden the Bloviater" has been the one with the most concise and to the point responses...) - on TV because he presents himself so comfortably, authoritatively, non-aggressively - in person - and I can only go by videos - but I get the sense of him being "one of us" at the smaller gatherings, rather than "me candidate - you voter" feeling I get from the others.
I'm pleased - and not surprised - that he came across well on the radio.
And impressed with you for doing that! :headbang:

Various reports and discussions reveal popular thoughts of him as VP or Sec of State. Well, if you are solid enough for that, why not Pres? The only other candidate referred to in some instance is Richardson. If the bickering leads to caucus goers to unite then maybe everyone's second favorite will win out???

20. I was thinking that this morning while I was reading MSM coverage of the debate - |
|
that they have chosen a different story line entirely.
The focus seems to be on who "won" each "round", why or why not certain responses or behaviors "scored" or didn't.
There was no discussion at ALL about what might possibly be the best approach to the issues - Iran, Iraq, health care, merely reporting on the candidates' answers to those questions and how they would be interpreted by the voters, not if said approaches indicated an understanding of the situation by the candidates.
More than ever, it's become obvious to me that the MSM is only interested in "reporting" the game, not the substance.
This type of "coverage" belongs on TMZ, not news outlets.

But it is even more noteworthy that with as little time as he did manage to have, he stood out with grace, intellect and leadership.

I can't understand why he is still being largely overlooked - Obama was my candidate, but the more I see and hear Biden, the more I feel he should be the front runner. I don't like the MSM picking our candidates, as they have done, and I really do like Obama, and as long as he has the best chance of beating HRC, I'll be voting for him in the primary, but I honestly believe Biden is going to start moving up in the polls, as he should. I believe he is the best choice to get us out of this mess, and I like the fact that at the debates, he's been a no-nonsense, get to the point, guy, who actually does answer the questions asked.

33. Speaking of Coronas, I got an 18 pk. few days ago and |

was surprised that they were so small, 7 oz. Something you would expect on an airplane, not the 7-11. They sure are good tho.
Back to Biden, he is absolutely my favorite. I started out about a year ago cheering our entire group. Any one of them would have made me happy and proud. We can all let personalties sway us and miss some of the issues that are critical at this time in history. Biden has convinced me he really could do an excellent job nationally and domestically. What a combo!
The other candidates need to fine tune their proposals so we can feel like we know where they stand.
