Our Brand Is Crisis
If you want to understand what happened in the debate on Thursday, you need to do two things.

First watch the film, Our Brand Is Crisis about James Carville's management of a political campaign in Bolivia on behalf of a candidate who favored imposing a "free trade" privatization, pro-corporate agenda on Bolivia. Here is a link to a DU post that shows the trailer in that movie.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x9300

Then, second, read the book The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein in which she discusses the economic and social policies of the guy that Carville was working for in Bolivia. As with Clinton, that guy was a psuedoliberal pro-corporate candidate.

So -- first the film -- Our Brand Is Crisis -- and then the book -- The Shock Doctrine.

You will see the pattern. CNN is the Hillary/Carville/psuedoliberal cable network. They want to impose more "free trade" and more privatization on us. That's the game plan. I dare you to watch that film and then read the book. And, Randi Rhodes, in case you follow DU, I especially recommend that you watch that film (again) and read the book (at least the chapter on Bolivia again). Then ask yourself honestly whether you still think a Hillary presidency would be good for America.

2. Thanks. Not many people are on DU tonight.
I will probably post this same type of message over and over. It is so important that people see that film and read that book before voting in the primaries and caucuses.

11. They repeat lies with diligence - we need to do the same with the TRUTH.
And screw those who don't like the truth repeated. It is our ONLY recourse at this time of corporate media dominance over the messages the public hears.

16. Thanks. I know it bothers some here that I'm repetitive, but what other way
do any of us have to assure that SOMEWHERE the facts are out there as consistently as the lies?

3. It's as clear as the nose on my face...
And I've been saying it for months now.

So far I've seen nothing to change my mind, only to convince me all the more.

5. Absolutely...
It's getting to the point I'm outspoken enough around here about the class war I tend to assume everyone knows where I stand.

Stupid of me to assume. :)

6. What's REALLY stupid is anyone who doesn't get that the class war is the whole ball of wax.
It's not the haircut or the house or the cackle or the cleavage or the UFO or any of the other asshole non-issues that our handlers feed us. It's really us against them and who will take our side. Among candidates who have a shot, Edwards is all we have.

And anyone who doesn't get THAT IS stupid.

8. Don't I know it.
I keep hammering that point over and over again and there are just too many people who don't get it. Voting record aside, (and it's not nearly as bad as they try to make it out to be), he's the ONLY candidate with a real shot who's talking about it. Hell, it doesn't even matter if he IS a hypocrite (I don't think he is, btw). This isn't even something one CAN be hypocritical about. Not really. He can't "play" the populist without making some very dangerous enemies in corporate America. There really is no going back from that stance. If you start it, you'd better ride it out because there really are no other options at this point.

The Class War is job one for us. Everything else is tied to it, up to and including the "War On Terror." It's part of the whole manipulate the masses scenario that is part and parcel of the Class War THEY started.

Anybody who doesn't get that really doesn't know what the fuck is going on.

13. And some just PLAY stupid because they can't face the reality that they've been played
for years by those they had defended so faithfully for years.

I gave Bill Clinton every break in the world, defending him mightily for 13 years and always gave him the benefit of the doubt - till I read his book.

9. Tough shit.
She's just more of the same. Different face, same basic status quo, feed the monster bullshit.

We're in a class war, and she's on the WRONG side.

12. Our Brand is Crisis is fascinating because the impression the average thoughtful viewer
gets after watching that movie is so different from the filmmaker's intentions.

The filmmaker tried so hard to humanize Goni, and she barely spent any time trying to explain why Morales was such a significant figure.

Yet the facts on the ground so overwhelmingly tell the true story that no amount of apologizing for Goni can distract viewers from reality.
