It is REVEREND Huckabee who is running for President.
Not "Mike".

He graduated magna cum laude from Ouachita Baptist University before attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

At 23, Huckabee was a staffer for James Robison, a television evangelist. Robison commented, "His convictions shape his character and his character will shape his policies. His whole life has been shaped by moral absolutes." Huckabee believes in "Biblical inerrancy." Prior to his political career, Huckabee was pastor of several Southern Baptist churches in Arkadelphia, Texarkana, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He served as president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention from 1989 to 1991 and as president of a religion-oriented television station.

He is anti-choice, he is against same-sex marriage, he is against civil unions.

"I think that students also should be given exposure to the theories not only of evolution but to the basis of those who believe in creationism." Huckabee also stated "I do not necessarily buy into the traditional Darwinian theory, personally."

He supports the Iraq War.

It's not "Mike", it's Pastor Huckabee that wants to be President and I think that as his Presidential stock grows people need to be reminded of his correct title and decide for themselves if they want a religious leader as President.

Also. If a Democrat ever referred to a religious figure without his honorary title in any other circumstance, we would be called disrespectful and "anti-faith". So be it. REVEREND Michael Huckabee
it is.

15. Not only that...
Started politics as a journalist with accolades, reaching far up the keister of neoCon mass comm. strongholds. I'd rather have I *heart* Huckabees consulted for executive decisions if he is elected.

2. It shouldnt even be allowed.. IMHO.
A religious figure should not be a suitable candidate for the Presidency.

5. On what constitutional grounds do you make such a claim?
To quote Article VI, para. 3 of the United States Constition: ... but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

What you are asserting would be a gross violation of this provision, as it places a religious test on who can run for President.

12. I never claimed constitutional grounds.
Just said it was my opinion, as I happen to be a big fan of church state separation. Furthermore, I dont think anyone that doesnt believe in evolution has the mental capacity to lead this country. Again, my opinion.

14. I was not questioning your opinion, just your assertion of "shouldn't even be allowed"
I would be very unlikely to vote for an overtly religious person as well, and most definitely not for someone of the Talibangelical variety. But that is me excercising my rights as a citizen to pick the candidate I believe to be best. :hi:

That is a far cry from claiming that clergy "shouldn't even be allowed" to run for the Presidency.

13. THAT IS NOT A VERY HUMBLE OPINION AT ALL
That is for the american people to decide in the voting booth. You can not. must not....biolate the constitutional prohibition on relious test. If Huckabee is out.... then Sharpton is out... and Jesse befor him. ANf if profession of faith in the public square is out then not only would most of the current crop of candidate in BOTH PARTIES be prohibited, the Jimmy Carter should have been impeached on the basis of his profession...

You start excluding people for what they are believe then it is just another name for fascism... and yeah it is that simple.

4. Sharpton supports same-sex marriage, Roe v Wade etc.
If I am going to vote for a religious leader, I have the right to know what his or her stands are on issues that are important.

Reverend Huckabee also deserves scrutiny for his religious views and how they will affect his policies.

11. "favorite right wing nut job"

Matt Taibbi in Rolling Stone

"This God stuff isn't just talk with Huck. One of his first acts as governor was to block Medicaid from funding an abortion for a mentally retarded teenager who had been raped by her stepfather — an act in direct violation of federal law, which requires states to pay for abortions in cases of rape. "The state didn't fund a single such abortion while Huckabee was governor," says Dr. William Harrison of the Fayetteville Women's Clinic. "Zero.""
