Clinton gets her Social Security talking points from The Heritage Foundation.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1107/Speaking_of_conservative_talking_points.html#comments

Hillary's alarm that lifting the cap on Social Security taxes would be a trillion-dollar tax hike is -- like the notion of a "crisis" in the program -- the sort of thing that you find on, for instance the website of the Heritage Foundation.

http://www.heritage.org/Research/SocialSecurity/cda05-04.cfm#_ftnref12

As noted above, eliminating the Social Security taxable wage cap would result in the largest tax increase in U.S. history—amounting to over $600 billion between FY 2006 and FY 2010 and over $1.4 trillion from FY 2006 to FY 2015.

Say, wasn't Hillary complaining about using 'Republican scare tactics?'

7. Why? There is NO SS crisis!
Obama has been leading his speeches to college students saying there IS a Social Security crisis looming.

Hillary's position is 180 degrees the opposite. Hillary says, There is NO Crisis. She is interested in getting the country out of the RED and into the BLACK. Hillary IS CORRECT!

All Obama is doing is fear mongering about Social Security! Hillary indirectly called BS on his message!

3. Told you so. The DLC has combined with the Heritage Foundation on this.
Why are our Democrats joining with right wing groups and Republicans on Social Security?

The Progressive Policy Institute, The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, The Heritage Foundation, and The New America Foundation co-hosted this policy forum

The recommendations of this Initiative, presented at the DLC's 2006 National Conversation in Denver, Colo., are the work of many of the brightest leaders and thinkers in the Democratic Party and the country. Under the leadership of Sen. Clinton, DLC Vice Chair Sen. Tom Carper, and Gov. Vilsack, a broad and unprecedented coalition of progressive think tanks took part in developing this agenda: the Democratic Leadership Council, the Progressive Policy Institute, the Center for American Progress, NDN, and Third Way. In addition, this coalition solicited input from other groups focused on the future of the American Dream, including Hope Street Group, a nonpartisan public policy network of private-sector professionals.

It is already planned.

5. It's a good summary of the two main GOP talking points on the subject.
Don't you think?

6. The Edwards camp has gone over the top
with this stuff.

They're turning their candidate into a joke. Formerly "my" candidate, I might add.
The guy is nothing more than calculated ambition.

9. It would be a massive tax hike on middle income earners in Democratic blue states such as NY & CA
Edited on Mon Nov-19-07 05:24 PM by terisan
where the high cost of living means that to be middle class you have to be paid much more than middle class earners in lower cost of living states.

Are you engaging in false scare tactics?

11.  In the Venn diagram of life there are many likely areas of intersection.
Is there something wrong with occasionally holding the same opinion as one or more members of a conservative think tank? One or more members may also share my opinion of white water canoeing (I'm for it) or adultery (I'm against it).

I don't engage in Busbot "are you with me or against me" black/white thinking.

I recognize regional differences in cost of living and see no reason to give Republicans and welfare-dependent Red states (those which obtain net influx of federal tax dollars) a win by further overtaxing the more liberal citizens residing in blue states.
