The GOP smear machine bags itself a "two-fer"
I'll make a prediction of where the GOP is going with the Novak smear.

1. If Clinton wins the nomination, they will point to her hinted at but unproved"dirty tricks" campaign against Obama as proof that the Clintons are evil personified.

2. If Obama wins the nomination ,whatever insidious "rumor" they've dreamed up in their reptilian brains about him(and now subtly planted as being "out there")will be "whispered' repeatedly.

Those Dems who gleefully play along with the hopes that it somehow wins their candidate points, will get what one always gets when the choice is made to lie down with them: screwed.

1. Much ado about nothing...
IMO

I don't think the whole incident was well handled by either campaign, but I don't see this as having any lasting significance or even memory for most people.

2. It lead The Today show this morning
after holiday travel of course.

I didn't watch it but this WAS on the opening tease. I am sure Russert just had to make sure everyone knew about this.

3. sure.. a little sensation, a little flurry, but I think most people are
focusing on the holidays--even if they are not already jaded and desensitized towards these hyped political "events."

4. I have to admit that I was surprised how little attention it got even here
I heard about this over the weekend and when I checked DU there was some discussion but I think most people here saw it for what it was--a RW whisper campaign started by the old reliable douchebag Novak.

5. It may disappear as front page news
but it's been put out there and it will be revisited when it serves a purpose. It's how they play.
