Florida Poll: Giuliani Would Wallop Clinton in November Matchup
TALLAHASSEE -- Former Republican New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani would easily defeat his Democratic rival, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, in the Florida presidential race, according to a poll released today.

If the two New Yorkers are their parties' nominees, Giuliani would best Clinton 50 percent to 43 percent, according to Mason-Dixon figures. Seven percent were still undecided.

--
"Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, however, is hampered by high negative ratings, (38 percent favorable/45 percent unfavorable,) and less than half of Florida voters (49 percent) said they will consider voting for her," said Brad Coker, Mason-Dixon's managing director.

Clinton would stand a better chance if Giuliani stumbles and the Republican nomination went to his closest challengers, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or actor and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson.

Clinton trails Thompson in Florida by only four points, 48 percent to 44 percent, and Romney by only one point, 46 percent to 45 percent.

1. Guiliani is a perfect candidate for Florida.

27. Jim Davis should have been governor.
He was a strong DEM challenger. But when the bushies controlled the voting, you don't expect the DEM to have a fair chance. With all the crap Harris did years ago in getting people thrown off the voting rolls and the elec. shenanigans inspired by TOM FEENEY (congressman), people like Davis, and Feeney's challenger, Clint Curtis, had little chance of beating the rigged system.

That being said, Crist is a good governor, so far.

5. I do. Hillary is totally beatable in a general, and the American people, stupid enough to elect
Bush twice are just as likely to vote for Guliani.

10. Sigh..
I have to completely agree here, then after he is elected everyone will bitch that the troops are never coming home (which would still be the case with Hillary) and not take any responsibility for electing another dumb ass president.

4. This isn't a Clinton thing as much as a Democrat thing. The primary mess is killing us in FL
Opinion on Democrats seems to have tanked in FL in the last two months, as Republicans campaign there and Democrats have promised not to.

7. What amazes me is out of no where comes all
these anti HRC polls which really only one damn poll in Iowa says obama is ahead. Maybe since you obama folks have had nothing to celebrate for months this one lil poll will make you digest your thanksgiving dinner better....but remember if I had 1 poll out of 12 say my guy is ahead I would not be celebrating....
Maybe you could be like "just when we thought all hope was lost our noble saviour(s) has arrived".

And I agree with HRC,being in a foreign country at the age of 10 does not qualify one for President. Hell, if that were the case then I would become President before Obama. I've been in foreign countries from VietNam to many other pacific countries and countries in europe and asia. So, maybe I should run on that one thing cause I sure as hell got more foreign relations experience then barack obama.....

8. Only on DU do posters routinely celebrate Republican victories
and post numerous dupe threads about it during the course of the day, even though the figures are coming from that highly reputable firm, the Mason-Dixon people *cough*.

24. A better question is: Why do DLCers & "centrists" routinely ENABLE Republican victories?
See THE WAR, re-electing Joe FUCKING Lieberman, DEMS being told to "Keep your Powder Dry", the non accountability of Bush/Cheney , etc, etc, etc.

These are all things the GOP and the "centrsts" agree on.

Seriously- why DO the "centrists" always help the GOP get what they want?

9. Impeachment would solve the woes
of a country suffering from a lack of intelligence. It would reveal a reality they aren't used to, one that is not a republican lie concoction. To not to impeach is another mistake in a long line of mistakes.

12. Very few peeps polled......moe + or - 4.
Polling 600 people in Florida..... :eyes:

Mason-Dixon surveyed 625 registered voters Nov. 12-14. The sample included 270 Democrats, 250 Republicans and 105 independents.

The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percent.

15. What's the deal here?
We see all these polls practically handing Hillary the nomination and
debunk them (rightly so!) as being way too premature, and then freak
out over some poll, taken a full year before the election, that says
Giuliani beats her?

Gimme a break!

19. Who do we blame for this.....?
If moi, a political/news junkie, can't figure it out, how do we explain it to the "mall moms"?

I watched K-k-k-katie's CBS news the other night....she said Dems will suffer in the General Election because of Florida.

Good grief..this.is.what.mainstream.amerika.is.watching :banghead:

28. That zeitgeist is changing on Rudy in Flordia and probably elsewhere
Edited on Wed Nov-21-07 02:41 AM by JCMach1
The general perception of Rudy now has shifted from 9/11 hero to MAFIA-type. Remember, it's about perception.

This is from my talking to people and family back home. This included some serious Repugs in the mix.

Kerik and other negative stories are sticking to Rudy and he will start dropping like a rock.
