How would the replacement be chosen?

Who might run for the open seat?

2. When was the last time a senator
was elected to the presidency? Like 40 years ago, or something?

6. No. Vote Kucinich, for the good of the party and the country! A vote for Hill or O, would blow it!

9. Both would be replaced by appointed Democrats who would have to run
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 12:02 AM by dsc
in 2010 (Obama would have to run then anyhow). New York has 23 Democratic Congressmen and 6 Republican ones. That leads me to believe that virtually any Democrat would win there. Illinois is 10 to 9 our favor but we have most statewide offices including both Senate Seats. We have won every open seat we have run for and all but one Senate race period since 1978. I find it hard to believe we wouldn't hold that seat.

10. The replacement for a Senator is always chosen by the governor of the state.
NY and IL both have Democratic governors, so we'd retain the seat no matter where it was.
