Founder of "Largest Southern California" online site for Obama abandons Barack for GOP
here is the text of the letter now found on the Los Angeles for Barack Obama Website:

My name is Marc Whittemore. I started the original grassroots group ObamaLA and carried it until it was 2,500 people strong. Having done substancially more homework now I am inclined to switch my vote. Make no mistake about it — I think Obama would make an AWESOME President — far better than any other stale “part of the problem” Democrat running.

So he thinks Obama is the next best thing to a Republican.

2. Gee, I didn't know that Hillary Camp was working this Thanksgiving Weekend
Let's see, if a person forms a Meetup for candidate A, and then leaves as the organizer because another candidate appeals to him or her, so this becomes a cause celebre?

Get a life!

3. Misleading by OP: It is not the largest Southern CA website
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 07:21 PM by TeamJordan23
Marc Whittemore, founder of what was once Southern California’s largest Barack Obama online-hub, has come around.

Also the person is supporting Ron Paul, not your typical GOPer.

6. Unlike the Democrats and Republicans that voted to take our freedoms away
Ron Paul voted to defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights (I may also add that Dennis Kucinich voted for our freedoms as well).

23. Unlike you, I believe in the Constitution and in the Republic
My freedoms are under attack by both political parties, both of which voted for PATRIOT, and abrogated their powers to Bush.

Call me when Pelosi puts impeachment back on the table!

41. Ah, the chest-thumping Paulistas scurry from their caves into daylight
Ron Paul's positions "defend the constitution" in exactly the same way that coal can be considered "clean"

Run a little thought experiment. Take Ron Paul's positions and institute them, just in your head. Take a deep breath, clear your thoughts (no doubt you have this down already) and just... picture.

First off. Picture today's standards of Health Care, Education, Housing, Sanitation, Environment, product regulations, and worker's rights. pretty damn dismal, right? The Ron Paul solution to these problems is to remove any and all traces of these concepts from the body of American law. We have poor health care now, but we will have no health care then. We have unequal education now, and that gap will stretch into an unleapable chasm under Paul-icy. People will learn to love the warm glow of Lake Erie as it burns against the hazy brown sky, ahhh, postcard-perfect.

Next, picture your republic.
Picture your constitution, with all those nifty amendments.
As seen through the pens of the Prophet Paul, there is no republic. There are 50 self-determining and competing states-sovereign. Many of these will no doubt leap to the rallying cry of "states rights" not because of ome idea of liberty, but because that hue and cry is historically the best defense for denying liberty to those with a different skin shade or god than you. This is the reason why StormFront has a big ol' "Ron Paul 08" banner on their front page.

Now that constitution. You might want to re-examine Ron Paul's take on it. He beleives that any part of it that he disagrees with - such as the 16th amendment, or treaties being considered American law - don't actually exist. In fact, to Paul, all that exists in the constitution are the second and fourteenth amendments.

Not that it matters, as under the rulership of Pope Ron Paul I, there will be no central body to ENFORCE constitutional law. Juries will become lawmakers, and will be open to the highest bidder, with no appeal available since that "wastes money"

"Ron Paul '08; Because you know, Colombia's not THAT bad of a place!"

a man who does NOT support the constitution as it is and as the founders envisioned it. Disgusting, but completely predictable to see you defending a racist, homophobic, xenophobic anti-woman candidate- all to lash out and Clinton.

Have you no shame?

27. disgusting that you would defend Pelosi keeping impeachment off the table
Edited on Sun Nov-25-07 08:14 PM by IndianaGreen
I'll defend Ron Paul's defence of the Constitution, not his positions on other issues.

While Democrats like DiFi and Schumer have voted to put a defender of torture as Attorney General, and a Democratic Congress caved in to Bush on spying on Americans, it has been conservatives that have called for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. People like Bruce Fein, Jonathan Turley, and even the crazy Bob Barr, have raised the alarm on the threat to our freedoms posed by Bush regime.

I don't defend Pelosi for keeping impeachment off the table. I strongly believe it should be on the table. Furthermore, I think Pelosi is a lousy leader.

As i said, disgusting to see you defend Paul.

37. What a ridiculous OP - Ron Paul is not "the GOP"
I'd say Rupert Murdoch was, but Ron Paul, not so much.

You really, really try but why? This has nothing to do with Obama, some guy "abandoned" him to support a character who doesn't have a prayer, and that proves exactly.....what? Maybe that one former Obama supporter isn't all that bright, but that's about it. Keep trying...you're REALLY convincing me that HRC is the greatest :sarcasm:

39. In 92 it was Clinton, liberal, liberal, liberal. Tax and spend,
tax and spend. As he said in his acceptance speech in 92, the repubs trot out that old record and it plays and gets stuck on liberal, tax and spend.....Now a funny thing is happening in this process, most dems in here are saying,HRC too much like republicans, tied close to corporate america....

Come on people can you just for a moment THINK or is that asking too much. What bill could she put forth that was so republican the house and senate dems would not catch it? She will govern from the center left and all these programs that dems have fought so hard for all these years will still be there 8 years later.
Sometimes I come in here and need a laugh and I usually find a post that brings a wide ass grin to my face.....

I do thank you and have a good week

Ben David

43. Not surprised: Obama does not inspire passion so he loses support to GOP.
As soon as people get a chance to see that Obama is made of spun sugar and hot air they drop him as a candidate. In this particular case the Obamiian dropped him for repug, so the damage is greater to our party.
