Let's not.........
When someone posts a positive piece about their candidate, do you honestly think it's your duty to go over to that thread and (pardon the expression, but I can't think of anything that is quite as honest) shit on it?

I read a positive piece on Clinton and there's someone to tell us how they won't vote for her, or she is DLC or whatever the shitty statement is.

I read a positive piece on Obama and there's someone who tells us how inexperienced he is, and remind us of his blunders.

I read a positive piece on Kucinich and there's someone who says he's an elf or whatever is demeaning.

With Edwards, it's his honesty, I guess. I'm guessing he is this year's version of Slick Willie, according to folks. And let's not forget his haircut, his house, his Senate record or anything else people think he has done wrong.

Biden, he's polling so low that no one is paying attention.

Dodd, it's "Dodd who"?

And with Gravel, it's "is he still in the race", or "he's crazy".

Many people have not made up their minds on who to support, and if you would read all these threads, it looks like none of them are up to snuff, so to speak.

Is it too much to ask, to not shit on a positive thread? Is it really that hard to do? I mean, come on, there is not one candidate who is perfect. Do we really need to tear them down when a positive thread is posted? There are plenty of negative threads where you can gang bang to your hearts content, why must you pick on the positive ones?

2. There are so many snide remarks here
and its easy to sit back at the computer and be snide about somebody else's candidate. It's tough to go out there and actually work for your candidate. That takes real character.

5. You are one of many
who have posted something like this. So far, it has not done any good.

Thank you, though. This undecided appreciates it.

Any one of our candidates is better than all of the repuke candidates combined.

6. Let's not limit civil discussion
This isn't #### fan club. It is a political discussion forum for Democratic and Liberal/Progressives. There are rules and the arbitrators of those rules are the mods.

One person's 'shit on a positive thread' is another person's mentioning some facts to counter a point.

7.  I agree.
I am leaning toward some candidates, but have not decided to support one exclusively yet.
It's discouraging to read the same crap from the same few diehard supporters who insist on trying
to derail any thread positive threads about other candidates. I don't mind honest questions about a candidate, but
there is no reason to keep harping on well known faults of each one in every thread about them.

If someone starts a thread "Candidate X is dreamy", there is going to be another poster who feels with equal strength that "candidate X is not dreamy".

By the same token if a poster starts a thread "candidate Y is not dreamy" someone is going to come along and post that "candidate Y certainly is dreamy".

It works with issues too. If one poster believes candidate Z has the best position on whatever issue, there will be others that do not believe candidate Z has the best position on that issue, but that candidate Q does, or perhaps simply believe that candidate Z has a very bad position on said issue.

Rah rah cheerleading threads of pure adoration can be partaken of and enjoyed in the various candidate forums that DU provides for all of the various contestants.

Because of that, when I post, I try to post on a variety of subjects, and when I comment, I try to bring a link, or something else to the conversation. Opinion is great, we all have that, but I also like some information.

Have a great day!

GO EDWARDS!

9. I thought about posting something like that, but have no flame retardant on hand.
So thanks for posting this, for those of us who don't like to see Democratic candidates trashed just for the sake of trashing.

Now, I know everyone has their favorite. I know people are very passionate about their chosen candidate. And I also know the people here are perfectly intelligent enough to know the difference between disagreeing with someone's choice and just flat out lambasting them. I guess I'm naieve and all that stuff, but I truly don't see the point. They are ALL honorable and wonderful people. Any of them would serve well, certainly better than the dipshitjackassidiottraitortheif who is in there now.

So I just have one thing to say: Too many good DUers are getting out of the business. Too many DUers aren't able to practice their love with candidates all across the country on this board!

candidates' group threads, not in GD or GD Politics. If someone's posting about attending an event, or meeting someone, then criticisms should be off limits, otherwise, it's the primaries, and criticism, debate and arguing is what we do.

14. Not for those who haven't made up their minds
I certainly understand primaries and criticism, but it is really getting out of hand. If you don't like a candidate, why visit the thread? There's the rub. It seems the only reason to go to a thread of a candidate you don't like is to shit on it. I don't understand how someone can be so petty, or more to the point like a bully. You can't get to the candidate so you beat up on his/her supporter? So if you support let's say the Vikings, and they are playing the Cowboys, do you beat up on the Cowboy fans? (As you can tell, I know very little about sports, so don't yell at me if these two teams would never be able to play one another.)

I really don't understand raining on the parade of a press release. Of course, I have my favorite candidates and my least favorite, and I have caught myself wanting to write a snarky post, but I'm grown up enough to know that it doesn't help anything. As a matter of fact, it only makes me look at the person who does it with a lot less respect, and I'm thinking of putting certain people on ignore they are getting so bad.

Yes, they could post it in the various candidates forums, but many people do not make it a point to visit those forums. I have no idea why some people are so angry if a post gets put in GD Politics, the thread only lasts a few days at most, since it is one of the most active of forums. Just skip it and it will be gone before you know it.

17. Okay, I know everyone likes their candidate, but should everyone expect everyone else to?
Isn't that why there are elections, because people don't agree on candidates? And should they not state the reasons, and how they do not like a particular candidate? If no, why not?

Except for the occasional "I'm not voting" statement, we're pretty unified after all this.
