Our Repug paper did a front page |
|
story making the case for war with Iran today. They also had a breakdown of all the military personnel and equipment Iran has.
Battle tanks 1613 Armored personnel Carriers 640 Helicopters 628 Combat aircraft 281 Warships 156 Army personnel 540,000 Air Force 52,000 Navy 18,000
I remember the same such articles before the Iraq war, it certainly looks like the attack on Iran will be coming soon to me.

Iran's military(boots on the ground)is 1 million strong...and more can be mobilized;
The Islamic Republic of Iran has two kinds of armed forces: the regular forces Islamic Republic of Iran Army, Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force, Islamic Republic of Iran Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), totalling about 545,000 active troops. Iran also has around 350,000 Reserve Force totalling around 900,000 trained troops.
Iran also has a paramilitary, volunteer militia force within the IRGC, called the Basij, which includes about 90,000 full-time, active-duty uniformed members, and a further 11 million men and women who could be mobilized This is the largest number of troop mobilization in the world.
I think Bush is fucking with the wrong country...

4. The paper lists those numbers as their active |
|
military, they make no mention of reserves. I would guess we have the capability to totally destroy their entire arsenal from 30000 feet using conventional weapons. It's the occupation of the country where we would run into even more trouble than Iraq. I saw John Bolton the other day on Tweety's show and he said we would be welcomed as liberators. Hmmm! Where have I heard that one before?

7. It almost doesn't matter |

What kind of military Iran has. The fact is, they can shut down shipping in and out of the gulf, and that would be really bad. One of their biggest gripes is that we won't sell them replacement parts for their planes. Seems silly to me, as I think we should sell them anything they want since it's all old stuff that we can defeat anytime we want.
