Cheney's twitchy heart and the GOP nominee. A chance for BushCo to become relevant again?
Pure speculation--'just supposin' time.

What if Cheney decides to step down (pardon in hand, if he did) due to "ill health?"

Who'd get the nod?

Sweaty McCain, of the greasy Florida hug, has whored himself most enthusiastically for the "heir apparent" role.

If you don't think Bush picking a current runner would change the dynamic, think again. That person would be able to use AIR FORCE TWO for all of his travel, paying el-cheapo airfare equivalents, and be able to cover three times as much ground at one-tenth the cost.

Thoughts, anyone?

1. I can only think of ONE way to counter that advantage...
For ALL of the Democratic candidates to turn away from one another and go after the "heir apparent" for all they're worth. "At this point it's about saving the Union. Far be it from us to quibble over details with our Democratic rivals. The American people will have to decide which one of us is a better choice. But NO ONE should ever think that (insert Republican asshole here) is a good bet. Not if they love America and want a better future for their children."

6. I'm not suggesting that any GOP asshole IS a good bet. But the trappings of authority DO have
potential to change the dynamic. John McCain in a taxicab because his car breaks down is one thing, McCain getting off AF2 and being met by this asshole or that, with a red carpet, why, that's a horse of a different color.

It could change the dynamic. McCain has 'earned' the spot if Dickie takes a powder. The question is, will Dickie bail? The next question is, will McCain get the spot he 'earned?'

12. It WOULD change the dynamic...
And, as I outlined, there's only one way I can see to combat it. For the Democratic candidates to join forces against that person...be it McCrazy or someone else entirely.

13. Pro-choice, crossdressing Rudy?
Lieberman would be interesting...but he's not already a runner.

It wouldn't help the "GOP CAUSE" to put him in the mix...

He'd expand the globalwaronterra, and increase the war profits.

changed the law to stop that shit afterwards...

While Cheney is carted off to the hospital for "irregular heartbeat" today....

Cheney's four heart attacks occurred before he became vice president. He also has had quadruple bypass surgery, two angioplasties and surgery on his legs to repair an aneurysm. He was treated in March for a blood clot in his lower left leg.

In July, the defibrillator implanted in the vice president's chest to regulate his heartbeat was replaced with a new one with a fresh battery. The original was placed in Cheney's chest in June 2001, six months after he became vice president. .....

Indian American Journalist Warns of Possible Jeb Bush '08 Run, June 15, 2007

This journalist, SV Daté, has been on Jeb's trail for many years. That's what makes this possibility so worrisome.

Jeb wants into the Presidency. And he would not hesitate to muscle his way into the VP slot as a means to that end, especially since there is no clear front runner in the GOP lineup. And Jeb doesn't want Florida Governor Charlie Crist anywhere near that VP slot, because Jeb's political future will then choke in Crist's dust.

Jeb.

Edited to add:

According to the NYT, there really is a nepotism law.

Of course, in the "post 9/11 era," I wouldn't put anything past this bunch.

18. Thing is though,Uncle DICK's built in pacemaker is supposed to catch those.
So either it's malfunctioning, or the old bastard's black heart has deteriorated to the point where built in jump starts aren't helping.

Or perhaps the new pacemaker was a WalMart "made in China" lead-based special??

21. i'm usually a very compassionate person.
when something happens, i think about the person's wife, etc. in the case of cheney i cannot feel compassion. i think lyn cheney knows her husband is evil and doesn't care.

14. CHENEY HAS A HEART??????
I proposed this scenario literally years ago only the heir apparent was George Allen. I really think his getting beat upset some plans.
Of the crop running for pres, my guess is they seem closer to Ghouli than anybody.
Actually after Allen dropped I thought Jebby might be in line but that would be toooo much.

How will BushCo explain picking Rudy (especially with the Kerik mess muddying his relationship with this administration) over McCain, who prostrated himself sweatily to BushCo?

Bushco has been using him for sport for 8 years. One more kick to the McCain groin might be endlessly amusing to the neocons as they tell stories in their old age (in jail I hope).

Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 04:30 PM by rurallib
I am all for that. Any law against Rudy. He should be outlawed in toto.
Or is that a response to Jebby as VP? Such a law I could understand. But W has ignored law before and then stuck his finger in the collective eye of congress and said "Whatchya gonna do about it?" They usually respond by passing a law to make it legal.

20. This could be the "Agnew" move
Maybe they have reason to fear that Chimpeachment is not going to remain "off the table" much longer. So the plan is....

1) Send DICK home for "health reasons".

2) Install Mayor 9-11iani or Mittens the dog abuser as VP.

3) Chimpy resigns.

4) Incumbent repuke Rudy/Romney has instant advantage in 2008.
