Poll question: Who Would Hold More Influence In A Hillary Clinton Administration? |
|
And if you choose option two, do you think that's wise?

1. Oh, look. Push polling at DU. |

Isn't it wonderful when Democrats emulate the worst behavior of Republicans?

It's a legitimate question.

29. It may not have been your intent |
|
which would speak to your naivete, but the framing does suggest there's something wrong with relying more on the spouse, even though many male presidents have relied on their spouse more than they have relied on their VP. Adams and FDR come to mind and their spouses didnt have on the job experience

It's a valid question. I'm not sure why anyone would pretend it's not.
The role of the vice president has not tended to be the Cheney OVP. And even in President Clinton's case, in which he generally had a very good relationship with VP Gore, he clearly looked to other people for imput on many issues. There is no question that Senator Clinton was one of those people.
It is unlikely that President Bush1 relied heavily on VP Quayle for much beyond comic relief. Nixon was not close to Agnew, and JFK's relied primarily upon his Attorney General.
No matter who gets the democratic nomination, and who they pick for a VP, if the democrats win, I assume Bill Clinton will play a significant role in the next administration. Should it be Senator Clinton, it seems obvious he will play a larger role than in any of our other candidates' administions.
People are going to have differing opinions on what role they would want Bill Clinton to play in the general election and the next administration. It makes for an interesting and important topic to discuss.

The only real question is how much influence others will still have with Hillary, and how much influence they have with Bill.

22. Hillary should do to Bill what Nikita Khrushchev did to Kaganovitch |
|
When Khrushchev took absolute power in USSR, he send his deposed rival Kaganovitch as manager of a hydro-electric plant in the Urals.
Hillary should put Bill as far away from the White House and her Administration as possible, otherwise the Clinton 44 Administration will be dragged through the mud everytime one of Bill's indiscretions become public (and believe me, they will!).

23. Let me ask a variation on that question: |
|
Who do you think had more influence on FDR -- Eleanor or John Nance Garner/Henry Wallace/Harry Truman?
Having a politically savvy spouse is not a bad thing!

25. How about a BOTH or NEITHER option? |
|
I think her VP will hold sway on the areas he's delegated, and her husband will have input into the areas where he is asked to assist, as well as get the "General Sounding Board" role.
I'd imagine whosoever he VP might be, should she make the cut, would be onboard with the realities of the situation. At least it wouldn't be a surprise, like, say, Nancy Reagan or Mrs. Wilson was.
And, FWIW, anyone who has a former President in the family and DOESN'T USE THEM is a FUCKING IDIOT. It's not a question of "Is that WISE?" It's LUNACY to IGNORE that asset.
Ask the fucking lunatic in the White House right now. If he'd listened to President 'Deddy' we wouldn't be in fucking Eye-Rack, STILL....

27. i posed the question like that |
|
because it's fair to assume that there's no way to accurately designate "equal" influence. If there's a crisis situation, it's fair to assume that if her VP has one opinion, and her husband has another, she would choose one or the other. She couldn't choose both, and she couldn't choose neither.

You might consider who would want to be the third person on that ticket. It could cut down on VP options.
