"Could former senator John Edwards and Sen. Barack Obama be considering a truce?"

Abundance of Warmth on a Cold Iowa Night

Could former senator John Edwards and Sen. Barack Obama be considering a truce?
For a brief moment Saturday night, that unlikely prospect suddenly appeared possible.

Democratic presidential candidates had gathered in Des Moines for the Brown and Black forum, a panel on minority issues, and during a question-and-answer period, Edwards (N.C.) was given the opportunity to aim a question at any of his rivals.

Rather than hit rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) with a tough challenge, Edwards lobbed something of a softball to Obama: Would the Illinois senator, he asked, join him in pushing to raise the minimum wage to $9.50?

"I think our voices together are more powerful than our voices alone," Edwards said, praising Obama even as he asked the question.

Obama did not hesitate. "The answer is yes," he said, drawing a large round of applause. "And John has done good work on this."

Richarson did the same to Clinton - "But like Obama and Edwards, Clinton had her own moment of comity with New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson when he directed his allotted candidate-to-candidate question toward her.

Did Clinton, Richardson asked, agree that governors -- such as her husband, and himself -- make good presidents?
"Well, Bill, I also think they make good vice presidents," Clinton said."

Sounds like a cozy night. Kuchinich chose to ask his question of himself.

6. I thought they worked quite nicely in tandem a couple debates ago.
Those boys had me standing and cheering.

8. I do too which is why I included it. It also made me smile that DK chose to ask himself
a question. I hope he included the standard "that's an excellent question" or something like that in the answer. :D

10. You know, while I'm for Obama
And don't particularly like Clinton or Edwards, they do have their moments. I like it when they have their light humor. It's nice to see for a change.

13. I think the most likely nominee will be Obama
Obama/Clark would be great. clark adds tons of foreign policy experience, like Obama Clark appeals to moderates, Clark's maturity compliments Obama's youth, Clark would be the ideal "attack dog" VP and could smack down any criticism of Obama, they are geographically complimentary as well. Perfect

In my view, Clark would be the best VP for any of the candidates.

Edwards/Obama or Obama/Edwards would get my enthusiastic support as well.

Would Hillary make a good VP candidate?

15. What's your opinon of Biden as VP?
I think he'd bring a lot of what you said to the table, minus the former military aspect.

16. I think Biden would be the safest presidential nominee we have....
and would also be a good VP.

He also compliments Obama in several ways.

I have been very impressed with Biden this time around.

I still like Clark, if for no other reason, with Biden we lose lots of seniority in the Senate.

But Biden would be great!

I think it would be good for Obama to nominate an older candidate who still has a somewhat youthful air to them. Both Clark and Biden fit that bill.

18. I agree
(Don't you just love it when you see that here, it seems so...rare sometimes.)

I like both Clark and Biden.

Even though Clark is considered "liberal" but the right end of the spectrum, the basic fact that he was a military general will sway many in an election. I think that the general public would like to see an established military guy next to Obama (in the same sense that Colin Powell still stirs the regular folk).

In the end I don't think Biden would take a VP slot. I think he would prefer to remain a Senator where frankly he has more power and usefulness than as VP.

more than a ticket with Obama at the top
