I like the sound of President Obama, |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 08:57 AM by cali
so sue me. I like the idea of a person of color as the President of this country. And though I don't always agree with Obama and I think he's flawed like all the rest of the field, I think he'd make an able president and that he'd do wonders for the perception of this country, the world over.

5. How nice it is to open up DU this morning and find a positive post |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-02-07 09:10 AM by EV_Ares
this morning from a DUer instead of looking on the negative side of the candidates. Not because it is a candidate I also look to as my possible choice but positives far outweigh negatives.
Thank you Cali, a good lead for us all.

6. I could easily stand with a Pres. Obama. |
|
Like you said, ain't nobody perfect.
I think Obama has the sense and character to *try* and do the right thing. That's really all we can ask, that Our Presidential Candidate tries to do the right thing. When they mess up, they should learn, correct themselves, and move forward.
He wants to represent change, and I think the change comes from Us. If We push for change, he will go were We take him, IMO.

8. Yes, every candidate has their flaws. |

I would be happy with a President Obama. I very much like the sound of President Biden and President Edwards too.
I think all 3 of them would do wonders for the perception of America.

only after the nominee for the Democratic Party is picked, and it is him. He definitely has a good shot at getting that title.

And I think it is well past the time when this glass ceiling should be broken. A better message could not be sent to America and to the nations of the world that we indeed are finally willing to step forward and practice what we preach to them. When I look at Obama, I see my son and all the little boys like him who grew into strong, intelligent, capable men in spite of prejudice and roadblocks. Young people who have risen above the shackles of the worst of the historical traditions on both sides of the color divide. I hope our children can soar. As a nation, we may have gotten as far as the mountaintop, but we still have yet to fly.
You are correct. Obama is human. I don't always agree with him either. What I see in him is sincerity and a willingness to build a new and better America, not just put a new coat of paint on a corroded one.

...but yeah, I do love the idea of a person of color as President...or a woman, as long as it's a Democrat of course.
