A corporatists response to change....especially regarding healthcare
Doesn't it always seem that when discussing this issue the response is always centered on the concept that we "need these institutions"?

It's never EVER centered the supposed "good" they offer society or anything else.

1. of course not
The one I hate is the argument that "governmental health care is thievery" as if private health care wasn't worse thievery. Yes, I suppose one has the choice to not have any health care, but not many people tend to be able to afford to go that route.

It kills me though. We spend twice per capita for overall lower quality care what people in other countries spend, yet the arguments that "taxes will go up" and "government can't do anything right!" are always trotted out.

I honestly feel that we're too burdened with lingering anti-communist crap to ever consider what may after all be a better idea.

2. anti-communism
We were very well programmed during the '50s, just because the
growing Soviet Union was taking more and more potential
markets out of the tentacles of US business. Communism was
never any kind of threat. I don't think anyone who was
functional thought for a moment that it was actually something
we had to protect ourselves from. Yet the programming was so
effective that people were actually cracking skulls out of
fear and loathing of "commies." It's still one of
the vilest epithets. Money drive America's narratives and
makes monkeys out of us.
