Bill Clinton complains about press coverage of his wife
Bill Clinton: Wife's record not covered
By PHILIP ELLIOTT, Associated Press Writer

KEENE, N.H. - Bill Clinton said Tuesday that if reporters covered the candidates' public records better, his wife's presidential bid would be far ahead of her rivals.

During a campaign stop on behalf of his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former president said he can't understand why so much of the media coverage of the campaign ignores her experience — and, without naming him, the relative lack of experience of her closest Democratic rival, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

"One percent of the press coverage was devoted to their record in public life. No wonder people think experience is irrelevant. A lot of the people covering the race think it is (irrelevant)," Clinton said to students at Keene State College.

1. He's right,
the media doesn't talk about experience or voting records.

5. Bill's gonna sink her boat...

Not a good talking point. Shows a bit of desperation.

He and everyone else knows that people in this country don't have time for in-depth analysis.

We'll make a quick character assessment and we are done.

8. It's sinking faster because of him.
His rhetoric just keeps reminding progressives who pay attention, how they were thrown under the bus by the Clintons during his presidency.

28. No it's not! He's pointing to Edwards senate record.. where's the coverage?
Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 04:27 PM by Tellurian
why hasn't there been a whimper from the media publicizing all the damage Edwards has done to middle class America..

All they have to do is check his record..Why isn't the news media doing it?

Edwards voted for Trade w/China, the onerous BK Bill, supported the raise in Int rates for CC companies!

6. Bill keeps going off message,
He's getting into all this personal stuff about Hillary and I don't think it's helping. I thought Bill was smart enough to always say the right thing, but he's said some unhelpful stuff so far. Hillary's campaign should reign him in.

7. Pres. Clinton's argument is based on a wrong premise.
That Hillary is so experienced. She's never held elected or appointed executive office. More often than not that's what the swing voters look at. She has seven years in the Senate, and a voting record that can be picked apart as all Senate records can be on those votes that showed waffling and pandering.
Richardson has the most varied and best experience out there.

19. What is her experience?
Seriously, I know she was deep into the health care thing in the early '90's but since that didn't go very far, how involved was she throughout the rest of his presidency?

Was she instrumental in foreign policy, decision-making, or was she more the ceremonial wife?

20. After the health care reform disaster she went into the background
and had no direct impact on public policy after that. They learned their lesson. And other than voting and endless debating has done little in the Senate. So her total experience is suspect.

11. The Clintons don't need the press to cover her record...
All Bill has to do is give one of his signature speeches about her record, and it will get covered.

13. I guess he didn't learn from the last time he was whining.
What is he doing? If you want people to know about your wife's record and what alleged experience she has, TALK ABOUT IT instead of complaining about the media coverage.

14. Uh, Bill....you all promised that TeamClinton can cut thru the corpmedia - it's not 1992's
media anymore, Bill.

Maybe you should have thought of that when you blamed Gore and then Kerry's messages, instead of the election fraud and the complicity of the corporate media invested in protecting BushInc's presidency.

25. I am going to throw up!
She should take a walk in the second tier's shoes for a couple of days - then tell me about it.

Her campaign is starting to sound like my teenage daughter who thinks everything should be handed to her on a silver platter.
