14. I didn't mean to include McCain in that. |
|
Some if not all of them already voiced their opinion on it. They didn't vote, but they can't hide what they said about the trade deal.
Obama was for it. I think Hillary was for it too. Someone else said Biden was against it. I don't know Dodd's position. I don't care what McCain thinks about it.

|
One thing about the Senate, there's very few surprise votes. If it were close, I'd be pissed.

Edited on Tue Dec-04-07 10:33 PM by karynnj
Saying that he did not trust Bush to enforce the environmental and workers provisions in the agreement. He said for this reason he would oppose trade agreements even if the provisions are good. (I would infer that he is implying that this is not bad on paper.) Especially as Kennedy voted for it.

When was the last election where candidates who were in Congress did NOT miss votes?
Possible solutions: 1) skip the elections, 2) ban campaigning, 3) ban congressfolk from running for president. Or, better yet, just forget about the whining and face reality.

Regardless of how you feel on this (and reasonable people can disagee), their votes would have made no difference.
The NPR debate was more important than them voting on this.

The leadership will let them know when they are needed on a close vote. So unless Dick Durbin and Harry Reid are ripping them, I won't. Too much hay is made of candidates missing votes. It plays on the public's ignorance of the legislative process.

Yes we know you're so very sorry that we don't understand. I'd like to hear it so please enlighten us. The true test of understanding anything is the ability to explain it to anyone.
I'll be really impressed if you can do it without insulting anyone's intelligence.
