Tinfoil time, It looks more and more like the NIC report was an end run around * and Cheney, because |
|
they know * is going to hit Iran and they don't what to be any part of this again. I posted early last month that the mid point between Turkey day and the IA Caucus would be his last political opportunity to hit Iran(I said Dec 10).
Yesterday I was relieved that the report came out but today * brushed it off and basically said he was still going ahead as planned.
It is time for the whole Senate to take a very visible and public walk down to the WH and ask for his resignation and someone in the cabinet needs to invoke the question of his mental status, and ability to remain in office.

1. I love the picture of the Senate walking down to the WH and asking for Bush's |
|
resignation -- and Cheney's, too. That's what this country SHOULD be about!

3. So you still think a military strike is on the table? |
|
The new agency I've heard say the report take the military option off the table and puts diplomacy on.

6. Kyl/Lieberman was crafted because they knew the NIE was coming |
|
they wanted to be sure they had another reason to go into Iran and the tacit approval of the congress.
Now that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has been designated a terrorist organization, Bush can authorize the military to go after them if he deems they are interfereing in Iraq.
While I know this seems a bit tinfoilhattish, you can't even give these crazed warmongers the benefit of a doubt on anything. Nothing that they do is without purpose...
I don't think he has any intention of backing off of Iran.

I see your point, but is a pesky little report gonna stop Cheney and the Podhoretz's of the world?
I just had a horrible thought as I'm typing this: Is something unthinkable about to go down in the next few months? Something that will again whip the country into a jingoistic frenzy?

18. They'll come up with something akin to the 45-minute mushroom cloud. |

Will the Democrats be unified and stop this juggernaut? Will the media oppose or beat the drums for war? I hope you're right, too, but I'm not as optimistic.
I sat in class a few weeks ago with a number of students who passionately defended Blackwater. I'm not convinced at all that "everyone" would turn on them, but again, I hope you're right!

but it might not be what BushCo expect (financial collapse/severe recession). We may wind up thanking all those nasty loan sharks and bewildered homeowners for pushing the economy over the edge before we can get WWIII started. And unlike the last time 'round, we won't be trying to manufacture our way out... that has all gone overseas.

I like that: "bewildered" homeowners. Yes, many were, but many knew full damn well what they were getting in to and assumed the risk anyway. TFB.
