what do you expect after the primaries end here? |
|
the same venom? will everyone get along like nothing happened? will some people leave, voluntarily or otherwise? will their be taunting, "i told you so" threads/posts?
and more importantly, do you think that DU will coalesce around the nominee like we did in 2004?
i was here for 2004, which was pretty bad, but there seems to be a waaaaaay different vibe this time around.
i have my own predictions and analysis, but i don't want to influence any responses.

1. There will be holdouts who slam the nominee no matter who it ends up being. |

2. i was here in 2004 and this feels way worse to me |

i think the outcome depends on the nominee.
i truly think if Hillary wins there will be people who continue the fight against her or leave.
i think if anyone else wins DU will coalesce around the nominee.
just my take.

9. I was here in 2004. I thought it was much worse then. |

This campaign season is longer. But the Kucinich-Dean-Clark-Kerry-Edwards shoot outs were stunning in their vitriol. Maybe I'm just a more seasoned poster here, but this Obama-Clinton sniping seems to be the work of just a few impetuous brats.

4. I was a moderator then and it was just as bad |
|
in my opinion. I'm sure some people won't like the nominee, especially if it is Senator Clinton, but most people will support the nominee. If they don't then they will have to read and not post nasty things or just leave. I like the strict rules after we have the nominee. It's why I come here. I like to be in the company of other Democrats.... haha and I love to say fuck the Republicans with no hassles.

I spend way too much time here as it is, and I could get a lot more work done if I got tombstoned! :)

7. A few bitter losers will disappear, but tor the most part life will go on. |
|
Well, let me revise that. If Clinton wins the nomination, a lot of bitter losers will disappear and DU will be an ugly cesspool filled with cold pizza.

"The Democratic Party has abandoned me" kind of stuff, but it will die down after awhile.

14. I think that some people will "get behind" the nominee. |
|
Some people will abstain from discussing the candidate at all, and grimly hold their nose at the polls. Some people will look at 3rd party, independent, and write-in options. Those people may not leave DU altogether , but won't participate in presidential campaign threads.
I think DU will seem to coalesce around the nominee, because those that don't won't talk about it on DU. A "don't ask, don't tell" policy, so to speak.
I didn't feel like DU truly "coalesced" around Kerry. I think that more people were willing to "get behind" and/or "hold their nose" in '04 than will be in '08 if a particularly divisive candidate is nominated.
Since you asked.

He might not have the $$ to beat the MSM's selected "big Three" for the Presidential nom, but he'll at least be the VP nom for sure! www.2013IsTooLate.com

When it comes down to is, we have almost always stuck together. The candidate divisions will fade and we'll move on. I'm looking forward to it.
