Cynthia McKinney to run for president --- with the Green Party
Interesting. I still doubt she'll get a very high vote total, particularly in a year like '08.

Cynthia McKinney Announces Presidential Aspirations

Eric Dondero just called me from Houston to inform us that former Democratic congressional representative Cynthia McKinney has just announced her intention to run for President on the Green Party ticket.

According to Dondero, around sixty people attended an event this evening at the library of Texas Southern University. Dondero indicated that McKinney was sharply dressed and very articulate but concise when giving her short speech. Following the speech, McKinney held a brief Q&A session.

One issue McKinney addressed, according to Dondero, was her intent to achieve 51 state ballot access. Dondero also noted that McKinney indicated that the Green Party platform speaks well to members of the African-American community.

There was one local news team present, along with several unidentified cameras, Dondero reported. He estimates there were approximately sixty people attending the event.

McKinney served in the House of Representatives from 1993 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2007 as a Democrat in Georgia’s CD4.

2. Wow, Cynthia will be in Minneapolis on Monday
I wish Greens and Progressive Dems could merge to form the "Progressive Party"..

Then pure Green's would still have a party. And what I counsider the Conservative or Moderate Dems could have their party.

And the Progressive Party could actually win a Presidency.

Here in the Twin cities. Moderate Greens and Progressive Dems work on each other campaigns.

3. There is that workable coalition there. But a Paul Wellstone, for example,

draws the sap back to the blue team.

I honor the European Greens and feel they have been able to coalesce in a far more effective way than the U.S. Greens.

A McKinney candidacy for the U.S. Green Party would be an immediate turn off for this progressive Democrat.

16. Yeah sure...
The Dems including the progressive bunch have a tough time winning the WH but split the party in half and add the 2% or so Greens to the "left" half and you have a sure fire winner? How's that work again? How many electoral votes would fall for the progressives without the moderates? You need to get 270. Lemme see how you'll do that.

8. That's not photoshopped. She was talking about the similarities between
food packets dropped in Afghanistan and cluster bomb cannisters. I think she flies higher then most of the delusional but on this subject she was spot on.

9. I like Cynthia
I like how she speaks up. But I don't think she has any chance and I don't think President is the spot for her. I hope she isn't able to Nader the vote down.

12. How nice. A spoiler.
And now all the DUers who swore they will never vote for Hillary, have a woman to vote for to prove it's not sexism...a woman with no chance of winning ... just in case Hillary is the Democratic candidate.

I'm so happy for you.

14. She won't even have enough of a following to be a spoiler
I wouldn't worry too much about McKinney having any effect on the election.

15. Where did I say I was supporting her?
I'm 100% for the Democratic nominee, whoever that may be.

Well, okay -- I might go for someone else if the Democratic nominee is Lyndon LaRouche. I'm not holding my breath.

13. Not only does she have zero chance of winning.
She also has zero chance of making any kind of meaningful showing. She can't even Nader an election.
