Have Bush 1 and his cohorts adopted Mitt as an improved GW Jr?
Edited on Fri Dec-07-07 10:34 AM by Armstead
One of the notable things about the Mittster's appearance yesterday is the location and presence of Pappy Bush who introduced him.

That would be an endorsement by the Bush Patriarch.

It makes one wonder what is going on here. Is Dad adopting Mitt as the son he wishes he had? Is he subconsciously (or consciously) looking to vindicate himself for the foul-ups of his namesake?

Or has the same crew who pushed Jr. into the White House now turning to what they hope will be a better version? Someone smoother and smarter but pliable and easy to manage by The Crew?

Or both? Or something else?

It certainly appears to be so.

6. I think GW ruined it for Jeb, and Dad knows it

If GW's presidency had been a success, they'd be touting Jeb for president.

But I think GW tainted the family name, so they have to find a surrogate.

11. Underneath the makeup and plastic hairdo
You know the old joke about Tammy Faye Baker?... Who did they find when they removed her makeup...Jimmy Hoffa? Well I propose that underneath the airbrushed layers of fine Revlon makup that keeps the Repug puppet so pretty is the wooden boy puppet of his Geppeto Daddy, none other than Jeb Bush,in an Armani Suit!!! I say we tackle the McMormon McMorbot McMitt McRomney and waterboard him till the layers peel away and see just who is underneath that plastic facade!! Then let's go ahead and "DOUBLE GUANTANAMO" like he wants and put all the nasty Bush's and their corrupt lying war mongering administration in the prisons and let the Cubans have their way with them.

9. This highlights the current split ...
in the party ...

Bushco was the almagamation between the social conservatives, corporatists and neocons ... The corporatists and neocons really fell in line after 9-11 because it served their mutual interests ...

What you have right now is the social conservatives half split between those who a simply power hungery maniacs and who are supporting Guiliani, who is the neocon candidate, the social conservatives who are true believes and know they got pimped by Bushco and are FAs, who are going to Huck right now, and the Bushies who for some reason have been behind Romney from jump street, and I am buying the Jeb VP thing there ...

Romney is pathetic, but not deranged enough for the neocons to buy into him ... He is plyable in that way that most pols are, and a better "package" which is the best I can make why the bushies are into him ...

12. Romney is the CEO President that GW Jr. pretended to be
Junior didn't have the polish or sophistication to pull it off once he was in office.

4. Bush apparatchik Jon Meacham was on PBS' Newshour last night
After one of the "state of the union speeches" (2005?) I recall Meacham getting in front of the camera for a prearranged soundbite of "the Democrats have no message, Bush was brilliant". Then in the next year, Meacham publishes a book about religion in politics. I didn't read it.

On Newshour, Meacham said that Mitt Romney called him the day before Romney's speech at Bush's Presidential Library at College Station, Texas. Meacham claimed that he did not coach him in what to say and only gave him some encouragement (I am sure that is a lie).

Recall that old Bush told a reporter for a "skeptics/atheists" magazine that atheists should not be considered to be American citizens (or patriots, whatever). That was before idiot son took the presidency.

So there it closes the loop. Bush is attempting to bring divisive wedge issues like public funding for religious education into the 2008 election via Romney.

(There is a letter to PBS in there, somewhere)

7. I'm so f'ing sick of this
I'm an agnostic. I'm not an athiest, but I have a problem with the docturnes of most religions. So I consider myself spiritual but not religious.

I get sick of being made to feel like an outsider by politicians simply because my very mild divergence from "religious values" is made to seem unacceptable.

My hunch is that a majority of Americans are similar to agnostics in their heart of hearts. Just afraid to admit it these days.

5. I think so...
Junior ruined any
chance of Jeb being
able to run, so the
BFEE needs a new puppet
on the stage.
