GDP Census, Part I: Race/Ethnicity.

Given the interest of some people, me included, of learning a bit about the demographics of the GDPers, I'll be doing some polls asking about some demographic info. The first one will be on race/ethnicity.

So, which one of the following options describes your racial/ethnic background better.

3. It would be cool to compile these...

...keep them in the Research Forum and update them periodically.

We've had demographic polls of one sort or another periodically for quite a while now, but no way to keep track of results and update them.

7. I'm not positive...

...never having done something like it myself.

However, I think the first thing would probably be to talk to a moderator from the Research Forum or to Admin, then get this and other demographic polls situated there.

Then we could run occasional reminders to DUers to participate in these polls (with links to the originals, of course), since each member can only vote in a poll once. That way we'd get newbies and people who haven't participated yet to update the results.

(1) Talk to Research Forum moderator or Admin for instructions.
(2) Publicize widely for a couple of days to get participation.
(3) Re-publicize widely periodically for a couple of days to get updates.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! :D

8. Whites & Other?

I see that you broke down a lot of the possibities for the Latino's, AA's, etc. What about all of the Northern Europeans? Irish-Italians, Welsh-German, Scots Irish-German, English-Dutch, Italian/German etc. Should those people just choose other? I would have liked the opportunity to vote for my heritage too, as opposed to; white or other...I know for a fact that there are a ton of Northern Europeans here....
