is mark penn on his way out?

"Top Clinton campaign officials were privately furious at the former president, saying he had revived the complaint that the Clinton's lack credibility, unfairly tarnishing his wife in the process....

For his part, the former president, one close associate says, has been bouncing off the walls at the campaign's ineptitude in the past few weeks. (It is not known if the Clinton's shared any of these sentiments with each other)..

It's a good bet that Clinton, encouraged by her husband, is weighing a shakeup, such as bringing in former White House Chief of Staff John Podesta to direct the overall campaign. The question is whether it's too late and too awkward before those first contests, which are to be held in 3 1/2 weeks."

i have said in the last few days that penn has failed hillary by his mistakes and not countering obama`s huge media splash this weekend. he has let her large lead in iowa slip away so now she`s tied or behind in iowa. hillary supporters should`t worry about what obama saying or who is backing him. they should worry about why penn has let hillary slip so badly when there was no reason why she should have.

1. I wonder if Podesta would take the job? He's a busy guy. And to suggest
the Clintons don't chat seems a stretch to me.

Recent years

John Podesta became an Honorary Patron of the prestigious University Philosophical Society in March 2006. Podesta founded and is currently President of the Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank in Washington, D.C. In addition to his work at American Progress, Podesta is currently a Visiting Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, where he has taught classes on Congressional investigations and technology law and policy. He is also a member of the Constitution Project's bipartisan Liberty and Security Committee.

a shadow government. What is "honorary patron. Visiting professor is flexible. Being a member of the Constitution Project is the type of thing that many others do while having day jobs. His real job is the Center for American Progress, a Clinton allied think tank.

The question would be if it is too close to the primaries. This is much closer than when Kerry fired Jordan. It would also be far more under the glare of the spot light and would lead to even more "HRC campaign in disarray" articles, possibly articles comparing Penn (LONG term Clinton associate) with Rove, detailing all the seediness and would clearly hurt the inevitability theme. Changing now brings up chaos and the corruption that surrounds Mr Penn - something HRC doesn't need.

2. I hope so
And then we can put this right wing crap he has brought to our party's nominating process (smears worthy of Karl Rove) to bed.

6. Holy shit! I had no clue, and wiki is lacking:
I guess he's not that busy!

From your link:

Inside sources have described CAP as "the official Hillary Clinton think tank" - a media spin machine and policy generator designed to serve as a springboard for Hillary's presidential ambitions.

8. Wonder what test
you had to pass to make into the hillary's think tank? Nothing too strenuous it would seem.

7. It's not Penn's fault he has to try to cover for Hillary's many flaws
Yanking Penn this close to the primary season would look pretty bad for Hillary...so I say get rid of him in a week or two...

17. Not a matter of choice - Penn IS on the same page as the Clintons and always has been
and always will be. They protect secrecy and privilege and are the smiley face masks donned every now and then by the fascist agenda.

11. I don't feel any sympathy for her
She should have realized what prior connections he and his firm had before. She won't get any praise now either for having kept him on this long.

To boot he sounds pretty inept and asleep at the wheel.

16. How ironic it will be
when the Clinton camp runs some polling to determine whether it will help the campaign or not if they fire their polling expert.
