Tomorrow's debate will decide Iowa. |
|
That debate in Iowa tomorrow is so incredibly important. If either Obama or Clinton clearly outdoes the other, I think they will ride this wave into the holidays and win the caucus. If Edwards clearly wins this debate, you could see this become an actual statistical dead heat. This is Hillary's chance to slow down Obama's momentum, and I think this is his chance to possibly put her away.
What is going to be interesting is to see what John Edwards will do. Will he stay positive like he has the past couple week? Or will he give his usual debate performances, where besides last debate, he has been given the credit for attacking Clinton, but Obama ends up getting all the votes in the polls. If I'm Obama, I act like a front runner. I think he needs to give good answers and not deliberately attack Clinton. Play the role that Clinton played in debates months earlier. Finally, if I'm clinton Im trying to redo the same debate I had last time around, where I go after Edwards and Obama. And Biden...welll Biden should just be Biden.
That's my take on things...what's yours?

1. Obama needs a strong showing in the debate I agree... |
|
It probably needs to be his best one so far in the primary season. He needs to be assertive, but not mudslinging a la Edwards.

But I can tell you fairly sure that its moderated by the Des Moines Register and will air at 2PM et. The debate will be simulcasted on Fixed, MSNBC, CNN, and I'm guessing C-span.

Candidates that are still in "persuasion mode" as opposed to "organization" mode are cutting it pretty close. With the holidays quickly approaching and the caucuses right afterward, now is the time to focus on ensuring you have participants at the caucus, spending less time differentiating.
I may be a little early, but I do agree that this debate is the last real time any candidate should still be focusing on ideas as opposed to actions.
I'm not an Edwards fan at all, but his recent announcement of increased staffing and organization on the ground in Iowa definitely shows he's been through it before!

6. Is anyone going to see it? |

What's with the 2PM start time?
Edwards needs to go after Hillary. They share support. Obama doesn't share support with Hillary as much.
