Play of the Day: Tim Robbins for Edwards
IOWA CITY, Iowa - Actor and film director Tim Robbins came to Iowa Wednesday to praise John Edwards _ and bury the media.

Robbins was not kind to the media, accusing it of having skewed priorities.

"What if instead of 24-7 coverage of the most recent pop star's fall from grace we would see 24-7 reporting of veterans returning from Iraq," he said. "How do THEY feel about occupying a country and being caught in a crossfire of a civil war?"

Robbins added: "We are owed information, not gossip. And yes, celebrity culture is part of the problem. It's not what I know, it's what you know. It's what the people who don't have access to microphones in front them know."

He blamed the media for prematurely narrowing the presidential contest.

"When I was here eight months ago with eight viable candidates running, we were being sold a fiction of this being a two-person race," Robbins said.

3. Tim Robbins knows where
the crap is that needs to be skewered..the corporatemediawhores in this country are killing it.

Bullshit on "two person race". The media manipulates. They even have that in this movie I'm watching on DVD, "Live Free or Die Hard"..intelligent people everywhere know this.

4. Go Tim!!
:applause:

Absolutely true. How the hell they can say it's a 2-person race when Iowa is a 3-way dead heat is entirely beyond me. :grr:

Also, we would certainly be better served as a nation if people spent more time watching CSPAN and less time watching video of Britney's driveway on TMZ.

8. It was!
Tim Robbins just fits in so well with the Edwards campaign and with Iowans. He is so humble. He acted like WE were the celebrities. Actually....all of the celebrities I have seen act that way. They get so excited about being in Iowa and meeting real life Iowa caucus goers. It's kind of surreal!

10. Well said, Tim Robbins
I see the article (the link doesn't work for me. I get a blank page.) is from the Casper, WY paper. Good place for it, because lots of repubs will see it. Maybe it'll wake up a few of them!

Thanks for posting this, sniffa.
