"He just did it again, he just said cocaine again. Unbelieveable."

That was good.

7. Trippy took a stand...
He was pissed and I don't blame him. This bullsheezy needs to stop. This is why the statement "Hillary Clinton is disingenuous" gains legs among viewers and voters out there. When she and people claiming to represent her go out and state silly things to demean another candidate while giving scripted answers to the issues.

26. Indeed ... I figured when Hillary hired Penn and Wolfson that she
was doing so to fight the Republican attacks on her and Bill, but she's using them as attack dogs. Did you notice how Penn kept snickering throughout? ... so damn rude. This is all putting nails in Hillary's coffin, and rightly so.

13. Penn was getting hit hard by Tweety for the Shaheen/drug dealer comments
and, in apologizing, Penn used the "opportunity" to say the word cocaine a few times.

The professional/diplomatic thing to do would have been to talk about it in veiled terms ("youthful indiscretion," e.g.) but Penn wants that cocaine word out there as much as possible. Trippi actually got upset about it and cut Penn off before he could go any further.

14. The thing is
I don't care how hard they want to win, this sort of behavior should embarrass them and should be considered so low it isn't worth the win.

Not from Clinton camp apparently.

I'm glad Trippi smacked Penn down.

I don't normally watch Hardball but I will - unless a YouTube materializes (hint..oh, HINT!)

18. No-the better it is for Obama. As Axelrod said, this is NOT a fight between the two. It's the
sound of one hand clapping. HILLARY'S doing the attacking. Obama's not attacking back. He's just calling it juvenile and desperate, which it is.

It's like offering an apology while repeating the word COCAINE over and over again, just to make sure everyone understands he used COCAINE.

24. Amazingly I caught this segment
I never watch these shows, can't stand it. When I was flipping through the channels I saw that bigshots from the big three were all on at once so I stopped. I couldn't have been less impressed by Mark Penn's performance.

How did he get to where he is today again? I saw absolutely nothing from him that would impress me enough to have him help me with a campaign for dogcatcher. Oy.

27. Total Scum, like many of his clients:
Burson-Marsteller is hardly a natural fit for a prominent Democrat. The firm has represented everyone from the Argentine military junta to Union Carbide after the 1984 Bhopal disaster in India, in which thousands were killed when toxic fumes were released by one of its plants, to Royal Dutch Shell, which has been accused of colluding with the Nigerian government in committing major human rights violations. B-M pioneered the use of pseudo-grassroots front groups, known as "astroturfing," to wage stealth corporate attacks against environmental and consumer groups. It set up the National Smokers Alliance on behalf of Philip Morris to fight tobacco regulation in the early 1990s. Its current clients include major players in the finance, pharmaceutical and energy industries. In 2006, with Penn at the helm, the company gave 57 percent of its campaign contributions to Republican candidates.

31. Mark Penn Proves That He's Behind It--No Wonder Bill's Pissed
Hillary is running a positive campaign, and doesn't want anything to do with "cocaine use," or the "fact that Obama said he spent 4 years in Indonesia as a child," etc. So now we know Mark Penn was behind the e-mails. Now we know that Mark Penn was behind the drug dealer smear in the Washington Post too. We know that Bill Clinton knows he's behind the smears and is furious with him. And we know that Hillary Clinton hasn't fired him yet. I've had enough of a President that can't fire screw ups like Penn.

All of this is not surprising, after all Penn's a union buster. Union busting doesn't work in the Democratic Party, thankfully.

And Joe Trippi did the right thing. It was good to see somebody not tied to Obama act honorably in this.

36. Just thinking devil's advocate here...
but what if part of the support for Hillary's campaign is the desire to see a candidate who's willing to play as dirty as the other side is?

We all know they do... they have for decades... maybe some in the electorate are ready to fight fire with fire?

Penn seems to be successfully demonstrating his ability to just that.

what she was attacking her and Bill she ought not get the nomination. As a party we have to do better than install another Rovean crew in the WH.

38. Well if you want my opinion I don't know why in God's name anyone
wouldn't be voting for Kucinich this go round.

Seeing as how we need to radically change direction, IMO.

But... not everyone agrees on how to go about achieving that much needed change. So... merrily merrily merrily merrily, right?
