Following Iowa and NH .... who do expect to drop out ?
If any. I don't a think we'll see a thinning of the herd until after Feb 5.

1. I think Dodd will drop out early...
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 03:37 PM by MonkeyFunk
perhaps Richardson.

I think Biden, Clinton, Obama and Edwards are in 'til 2/5 at least. Kucinich will stay in for the fun of it.

5. I agree but February 5th is "early."
Although after NH there will be a lot of horsetrading done for endorsements.

2. None
but we will hear some totally cosmic speechs about how great it is to be in fourth place; a victory if you will. February 5th, the herd will definitely thin out.

8. If we all appeal to them - no one!
We need to urge them to stay until after Super Duper Tuesday Feb. 5.

They don't have to spend money or to earnestly campaign, just stay in the race, perhaps visit some states for local interviews. I think that local radio and TV stations in the other states, after being neglected, would love to have any of them.

16. Gravel still comes in third in Alaska
according to a recent unscientific poll conducted by our local NBC affiliate. Obama with 30%, Hillary with 20-something and then Gravel. Biden was fourth.

13. Richardson after Iowa (to endorse Hillary), Dodd after New Hampshire, Biden after South Carolina
Richardson didn't even sign up to get on the ballot in Delaware. I think he will drop out when his chance to affect the race as a candidate is outweighed by the his opportunity to affect the race with an endorsement. I think that point is after Iowa (especially if he finishes 5th to Biden's 4th or if Richardson finishes 4th in a virtual tie with 5th place Biden) but before New Hampshire.

I suspect that neither Biden nor Dodd will endorse out of Senatorial collegiality.

15. Money will be the decider as to who drops out and when...
As several posters have already stated, Dennis will run until the primary is over(Duracell Bunny Syndrome). This is not a knock at Dennis by the way.

The rest, depending upon their warchests, will go until forced to quit.

17. That looks pretty plausible.
I suspect Biden's only hope is if Clinton totally caves after trashing up one or both of her major rivals. Otherwise, he's stuck perpetually behind the other nonClintons. It's like watching three cars trying to merge onto a freeway onramp. Any one of them might jockey it out at the last second--but the guy in the 4th car behind them stands no change of getting on first.

18. My take
If Biden doesn't finish third In Iowa he will drop out.

Dodd will stay In through New Hampshere.

Richardson will drop out If he doesn't at least finish a strong second In Nevada.

If Edwards loses to Obama In Iowa, then the big question for him will be South Carolina. If he loses
that to Obama he Is out.

19. Dodd, and either Richardson or Biden
I think either Richardson or Biden will still be hanging in there after NH, but it's also possible one of them could drop out before NH if they get really disappointing returns from Iowa. Richardson has Nevada to look forward to with some degree of hope, so it would be easier for him to stay in the race if he polled as well as Biden in the first two contests.
