My Republican Brother Says He Could & Would Vote Now for Al Gore or Joe Biden...and maybe Edwards. |
|
My brother is a family friend of Tom Delay and their kids dated in Sugarland.
Tonight, he told me as we talked about the holidays that his candidate, John McCain, in the GOP doesn't have a chance anymore and told me that he can't vote for any of the "godsquad" candidates on the GOP side if they are nominated.
And then he said, "David, I wish your Al Gore would run, because I'd vote for him in a heartbeat now. And if not, I really like Joe Biden, too because he is respected around the world and America needs that."
I said that I also wish Al Gore would run and that I am leaning to Joe Biden, but he has an uphill battle. I asked him if he could vote for any of the other Democrats.
He answered, "Well, I like the pretty boy, millionaire lawyer from North Carolina, John Edwards."
"Really. You like John Edwards. I can't believe that. You know he's really hammering corporations as greedy and too powerful. You are a life-long Republican. You can't like that message about corporations."
"Well, I wouldn't have until they took over everything and screwed the country up."
So, hell has frozen over indeed.

Let's hope hell has frozen over for several million other Republicans!
We will need them...

2. So there really are Republicans who are conscious! |
|
I've heard a lot of stories like this. Only the hard-core base is falling for the same old crap. I think we will see the equivalent of the Reagan Democrats this time around, except it will be disenchanted republicans.

I know many Republicans who are considering supporting one of our fine Democratic candidates. It warms my heart on this cold winter night. Thanks for sharing your story.

he has the experience, and they find him to be the most honest of the bunch. They are all not happy with the repub offerings. What I liked most about them telling me that is, I had no influence on their decision. I told all of them weeks ago, that I would be voting for him, and to check out his site. That was all it took I guess.

5. Well, that's good to hear! |
|
I had a feeling some repubs might be switching sides. I hope he's far from alone.
At least there's someone besides DU Edwards supporters who doesn't consider the fact that Edwards is "pretty" a negative thing.
He answered, "Well, I like the pretty boy, millionaire lawyer from North Carolina, John Edwards."
Anyway, whichever candidate he chooses is good, as long as it's a Democrat!

7. The one thing I doubt I will ever see is Republicans for Hillary. |
|
That is one of the reasons I think she is making a huge mistake trying to move right.

10. My Republican brother might not bother to vote if we nominate Richardson or Edwards and they |
|
nominate anyone but McCain.
He hates Hillary and Biden and -- oddly -- Giuliani.

Biden or Hillary. She's a Republican who left the party in the 1960's. She and her husband become staunch Republicans. Her husband died last year (for the record). She became so upset with what * is doing she actually voted Democratic for the first time since the Watergate fallout in 1974 (she voted Republican across the board every time other than that). She volunteered for Bob Casey (I know he's flawed, but Santorum was pure evil, and my aunt agreed) and voted for Rendell for Governor!
