I am sure this has come up before, but I think this is something we shoud all take a look at. Where the money is coming from. Who is beholding to how once they become the president? http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/select.asp?Ind=F27

4. Hedgefunds hedging their bets? |

Doesn't mean much more than Edwards having a 3rd of his fortune invested with Hedgefunds.

Out of that hedge fund. Did you see how much money Clinton and Obama have received from "hedge funds"? Do you think that neither one of them have money in hedge funds? And what about the rest of the money they are getting, did you see how much Clinton and Obama are getting from "corporate" America?
You really seem to be out to get Edwards, why is that? I have not been here that long so I don't really know who you support, but I am willing to be it's Hillary or Obama!

Edwards. They can't get over this from 2004:
1. Edwards entering the race and taking the spotlight from Clark. 2. Kerry choosing Edwards as his running mate in 04. After all, they jumped en masse onto the Kerry bandwagon because they had high hopes that Clark would be his VP.

and I don't trust John Edwards at all. He's only slightly above Clinton on my list. The hedge fund, the record in the Senate and what appears to me as pandering are some of the reasons why.

Edwards finally took his money out once it became a liability to his campaign to leave the money in.
They was like big time delay between the first stories that surfaced on Edwards' funds placement and when he finally pulled the funds out. If you want the documented facts on this slow move, I can get them for you. Just the fact that he had to be called on it prior to moving the funds out tells me quite a bit.
I don't care for Edwards because I don't believe what he says about what he believes. He believes one thing when its popular and then believes another thing when it is not. I also don't believe him to have good instinctual judgment; he appears to be a reactionary based on what's good for him at the time. He just doesn't seem to be a credible leader. He's good with words, but his deeds belie him. I'll live with him becoming the nominee if I have to, but I'll take any of the other candidates over him during the primaries. A lot of voters like him because they believe that he's good looking, white and from the South and that this is enough. I disagree. I see through him, and I don't like what I see. "A little girl will go hungry tonight", blink, blink, big grin.....for me, it does remind me of a preacher that wants you to believe. I simply do not believe John Edwards doing all of the things he say he will do. It's all said simply to get to where he is going......without real intentions. Just like his accepting matching funds when he's sitting on all of that dough. Seems like if he cared, he would have utilized some of this wealth of his, and put it out there, signaling that he was willing to risk his own in order to make a difference. But of course, he didn't do that. Instead he is tying his hands behind his back and saddling us with a fund limited candidate in a year when Democrats are raising way more than the pugs.

Then tell me who is getting the most money from "hedge" funds, it isn't Edwards, is it?
Look at all the money coming into Hillary's camp from special interest groups, along with Obama. Take a good look and then tell me which candidates would be more likely to favor the special interest groups if they became president!!!!

11. That doesn't make sense. There's absolutely no reason to believe that Edwards |
|
is going to try to favor hedge funds over working Americans just because he has money invested in hedge funds.
However, it's pretty obvious that hedge funds are going to donate to the candidate whom they believe will legislate in their favor.

8. The problem with this web site is that money from pacs is combined |
|
with money donated by individuals. Since Obama has not taken money from pacs for the presidential campaign, it could be a comparison of apples and oranges.

16. They're actually two separate issues. |

I see Edwards not taking PAC money as a positive, but sorry, I see his taking money from Fortress employees as just another form of bundling. I don't believe that money will influence him, that's not my concern with the hedge fund. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak with my brother who runs a small investment firm that does nothing but socially conscious/ethical investing. When I asked him his opinion of hedge funds, his response was scathing regarding what they invest in and the tax loopholes they provide their clients. He thinks the whole thing should not just be regulated, but shut down. (He knows that ain't gonna happen)

You can either have a big giant steaming plate of shit to eat, or just the occasional piece of dookie, for me it the occasional piece of dookie every single time.
Just look at these numbers, and you know that you're looking at a big steaming plate.

17. That was the first thing I looked at.. although from what people |
|
are saying here, this doesn't mean anything. At any rate, I was very surprised to see Edwards low on the contributions from healthcare and Hillary at 1.7 million. Not sure what to interpret that to mean if these numbers don't mean anything, however. ?

No matter what some are saying. It shows us which candidates will have a harder time trying to make the "changes" they say they will be making. How can you go after the lobbyists if you have been taking all that money? How can you do something about the energy problem when you owe the gas and oil industry for donating all that money? Same with banks, drug companies, and the telecom industry. How can you make changes when you owe the people that are part of the problem for getting you elected?????

Then that candidate clearly accepted the money in exchange for the promise of political favors.
If it's the candidate you love, then that candidate accepted the money from individuals who gave because they happen to support his campaign and they happen to work in that industry.
Clear? :P

At least it gives those who attack another candidate a chance to "spin" why their candidate takes more money than anyone else from "corproate" America, even if they won't admit it!

And drug companies Hillary was #1, Obama was #2!
Telephone utilites, Hillary #1, Obama #2! Wonder how they will vote on the bill to give the telecom industry amnesty for helping Bush spy on the public?
Banks, Hillary #1, Obama #2.
Oil and Gas, Hillary #3!
I just don't know what to say! Well I guess I do, but I am trying to be nice!
