Hillary: You already know how bad I am!
Edited on Sat Dec-15-07 01:40 AM by Bleachers7
Hillary's new tactic of saying you know everything about her, and you don't know everything about the other candidates, is laughable. She's basically saying:

You know how bad I am. You don't know how bad they could be.
You know how much you dislike me. You don't know how much you might dislike him (Obama, Edwards, etc.).
You know how badly I'll campaign. You don't know how badly they might campaign.

This has got to be one of the worst pleas for electability that I have ever heard. That kind of answer wouldn't fly in a local race. Now, presidential races also involve personalities and soft feelings. So I don't think Hillary saying "You know how much you dislike me already" is a good way to get elected.

Here's a good article about the subject: http://tpmelectioncentral.com/2007/12/hillary_and_the_drug_flap_does_her_campaign_want_issue_to_go_away.php

3.  I agree. Tell it to Hillary. She brought this up
CLINTON: "People are asking -- number one, who would be the best president? Who is ready on day one. We are not going to have time to wait. Economy, wars, terror. There is no way to describe the pressures and stresses of this job.

The second important question is who can win – if you decide who is the best president, clearly we want to be able to win. I offer 35 years of experience and not just talking about change. You can’t demand change, you can’t hope for change, you have to work hard to create change and that is what I have done. If you want to know what I am going to do – look at what I have already done. I have been tested and vetted, there are no surprises."

7. Why do you support a candidate with antithetical views to yours?
Edited on Sat Dec-15-07 01:51 AM by Bleachers7
You said we should talk about something real. Hillary really brought this up. Please send your fake outrage to her. www.hillaryclinton.com/contact

BTW, the blog post you linked said that he's a wannabe Bill Clinton. I'm sure a lot of people will like that.

15. Hey Maddie, when are you going to start adding to threads...
instead of simply taking semantical exception to everything? Why not generate some real discussion yourself?

27. What's to discuss in this thread?
The OP isn't even a marginally valid point.

There are ways to discuss what Hillary is saying without creating some bizarro world version of it.
Why should I participate in this 'discussion' in any way but short snarks?

When the OP wishes to broach a topic as an adult, I'll treat him/her as one.

28. There is no way to describe the pressures and stresses of this job.
It never seemed to stress out Reagan that much. Just like any other job, it can only stress you out if you know what's going on and/or you give a shit about it.

4. Actually makes some sense. America already knows everyting they don't like about Hillary.
And in this election cycle, the more they see of her, the more they like her. On the other hand, Mr. and Mrs. America, by and large, do NOT yet know about twenty-eight-thousand square-foot houses, or about particularly unfortunate middle names shared with erstwhile Mesopotamian dictators. I'm just sayin'.

and they elected those other people. Also, the more they get to know Hillary, the less they like her. That's how we got to this point.

23. exactly
ergo the nosedive Hillary is taking. It is coinciding with the amount of people now paying attention/making up their minds. This fluctuation happens in the last months/2 weeks of any race.

30. "Nosedive" or "Tailspin" ?
Which term is the correct one to describe Hillary's recent performance?
I've been using "tailspin", but "nosedive" may be more accurate.
Which is better?

25. I agree with you. That was at the same level
But in fact while most Americans might not have heard about this or that specific attempt to falsely claim that Hillary Clinton is a Bull Dyke, they have been hearing stories and jokes on that subject for years and have the photoshopped photos to prove it. It isn't new, it's just more of the same.

I am not worried about Obama's last name. I think Obama is a good candidate. I think he will respond well to sustainted Republican attacks agaist him. But I also wish I had more evidence of that to back up my hopes in that regard. His career in national politics has been very short and the only time Obama ran against a Republican opponent for a state wide office it was a joke (though Keyes did manage to get into the last Iowa debate though Kucinich didn't. Does that mean I underestimated him? Nah.)

Do what?

It would seem to me, Hillary would be better off locking herself in her room until the primaries are over. Everytime she opens her mouth, she loses a point in the polls.

the opposite reaction. And your lameness is showing by bringing up houses and middle names instead of anything substantive.

29. Hillary has a good point
Remember its seldom the discovered terrible secret that undoes a candidate. Candidates get slimed by repetition of the same personal attack over and over. Al Gore was slimed with "I invented the Internet." He never even said it.

Edwards and Obama will be slimed too if they get the nomination. People have already made up their minds about Hillary.

33. Well, it's definitely a valid point. And one she's been making for some time.
She has said for months now that she has withstood the full brunt of the repuke attack machine, and is still standing. She's tested, some of the others are not. That is a valid point, and an important one imho.

When we simply accept vague terms of "hope" and "change" as enough reason to vote for a candidate, and that no vetting, no exploration of his/her past, record, prior statements and actions is necessary, I think we only hurt the party, and our chances of winning.

:hide:

We should be too afraid to elect anyone else. That's inspiring.
