Let's cut through all the bullshit about the polls - stop the media fueled hysteria |
|
After 2 months of the most negative press any candidate has experienced in near memory, the lay of the land looks like this as of today. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_primaries.htmlIowa: Obama +3.5% New Hampshire: Hillary +3% Nevada: Hillary +20% South Carolina: Hillary +2.2% Florida: Hillary +31% California: Hillary +25% New Jersey: Hillary +32%

Tripping and falling over each other like keystone kops on the way to a bank robbery...

2. Short memory you've got there |
|
Dems who have received crushingly negative press in recent history:
* John Kerry (swiftboating--the negative press on him was so bad, a NEW TERM was coined for it!)
* Al Gore (media kept saying that he was boring, so he passionately kissed his wife at a public event to prove them wrong)
* Bill Clinton ("I didn't inhale", stories about sexual harassment while he was Arkansas governor, etc.)
* Mike Dukakis (the tank photo, his response about the death penalty during the debate with Bush, non-stop reports about the Willie Horton revolving-door ad)
* Walter Mondale (also hyped as boring, ridiculed for being Carter's VP)
* Gary Hart (media pouncing on his infidelity ruined his campaign, which is why Mondale won the nomination)
...and so on, ad nauseum. In other words:
During EVERY SINGLE ELECTION, at least one Dem candidate has been crucified by the media! Actually, they're handling Hillary with kid gloves, compared to what people like Kerry had to endure.

and about Hillary's supposedly insurmaountable lead.
What I'm seeing out there is more and more people coming around to the conclusion that Hillary would be an utter and complete disaster, who would not only lose the general election, but cost us ALL dearly at the state and local levels.

New poll today. I don't think there have been enough Illinois polls for RCP to average.
