1. this about says it all
Edwards was our pick for the 2004 nomination. But this is a different race, with different candidates. We too seldom saw the “positive, optimistic” campaign we found appealing in 2004. His harsh anti-corporate rhetoric would make it difficult to work with the business community to forge change.

____________

You just don't want to piss off the corporations - not even ones like the Des Moines Register.

Or do ya... People of Iowa cast you vote accordingly!

8. So, now we know: Hillary is the pro-business candidate.
Edited on Sat Dec-15-07 10:39 PM by JDPriestly
The Des Moines Register inadvertently admitted the nasty truth: the media is pro-Hillary because Hillary is the choice of their advertisers. Hillary is the choice of the Republicans and their corporate owners.

We Edwards folk have been saying that all along. The Des Moines Register endorsed Edwards because they saw him as the most conservative of the Democrats in 2004. They see Clinton as the most conservative this time and, in order to pander to their advertisers, they have endorsed her.

Times have changed since 2004. The "business community" is now lead by Blackwater and Halliburton. "Corporate" is now synonymous with "corrupt." By "anti-corporate" the Des Moines Register really means "anti-corruption." Edwards and many of us have woken up to the fact that the "business community" is what keeps Bush and his gang of killers and criminals in power. Edwards' anti-corruption views are precisely what Americans need to hear.

10. You should submit that as a litter to the editor.
Good luck in getting it published.

3. Two gloating threads?
Come on, knock this shit off already.

One endorsement from a half-assed catbox liner ain't worth the 4 threads already open on the subject, two of which are from yourself.

5. if obama and edwards won the endorsement
there would be dozens of threads, so why don't you be magnanimous and let the hillary supporters at DU (who are vastly outnumbered) enjoy their day.

6. They can enjoy the day all they want.
As I said in the original thread, it will hopefully be one of their last celebrations.

I'm just not a fan of redundant threads.

15. Well, after scrolling past all the "OBAMA THE TEENAGE CRACKHEAD" threads this week
I'm developing a case of carpal tunnel. Since I don't have any health insurance until Dennis Kucinich is innagurated, is it too much to ask that I don't have to scroll past 150 threads gloating about a useless Gannett fishwrapper's endorsement?

11. Herman....

Wow are you're hyped up tonight!

Starting a thread just to tell that you're friend was "perplexed" today?

You drink too much caffeine today?

I've told you on about 50 of your 51 threads congrats on the endorsement.

14. The endorsement proves what we have been saying all along.
The media is pro-Hillary because Hillary is pro-business. It is not a matter of being magnanimous. It is a matter of being vindicated by the admission of the editors themselves who stated that they were endorsing Hillary because she is the most business friendly of the candidates. If you want a business friendly president, vote for Hillary. Frankly, I want a candidate who is friendly to ordinary Americans. That is why I am backing Edwards.
