We like vicious uncharitable attack threads best.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed.
If you post something about democratic unity, it sinks like a stone.
If you post somthing unfavorable to any candidate...
You get loads of responses, some agreeing, and some name calling.
(freeper seems to be the most oft-repeated)

what we like is what we get.

1. A thread with the most replies doesn't mean it is the most liked

Even recs are often made to piss off the other side.

A vicious attack is usually unjustified. Those opposed. leap in to point out the errors, and express 'disdain'. DU is a club. Their 'not so good' friends jump in to join battle. If a thread is outrageous, few can resist the urge to express their disapproval or to snark their enemies.

2. you're exactly right
which is why I'm less inclined to visit DU these days. There are better, less dramatic and bitterly partisan ways of getting the information about candidates and issues I want. And, right now, DU ain't it.

4. Vicious attack threads are easier-- no thinking involved...
just do your snark and split.

No research, no logic, no understanding... Just open fire. It's no wonder they're so common.
