Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures

So I'm desperately trying to understand the desperate need by so many presumably desperate people to insert "desperate" into as many threads as possible on DU. Please help me, I'm desperate.

being that Iowa goes first and all of that. I just had this great Black and White World War I/ to Great Depression era visual image of a "desperate camp" flash by my eyes, lol

True it was a desperate move, but I felt it desperately needed to be made.
