What our Dean group is doing with the "Uncovered" DVD by MoveOn. |
|
Since Greenwald the producer gave permission to copy and share, we are doing just that.
One person made 5 VHS tapes from our DVD this week-end. Today we took the DVD to another member who is going to make DVDs from it. And so on.
We are making plans on how to share it to get the greatest impact. Only two of us had known each other before, yet we are working as a coordinated group.
One of our members, a neighbor who is a professor, is going to share his copy of the DVD with as many students as he can.
Will we make a difference? That is not known, but we will try.

I made three copies of the DVD onto videotape as well. There's one for my mother, who leans Republican, one for my mother-in-law, a dyed in the wool liberal, and one for a friend of my wife's family, a flaming liberal Kucinich supporter and another "mad Floridian."
I'd love to join a more coordinated effort to get the word out. Did you organize through Dean MeetUps or through some other connection.

13. Our Dean Meet-Up has a mailing list and we share phone #s. |
|
When something like this comes up we have our group to turn to, and there are a lot of skills.
An example, many of us get letters printed in the local papers frequently. Our topics are the war, Medicare, and other outrages. One of us shares each one around and keeps a running tally of them.
Our hosts just met by request with the county black caucus leaders, and a 2nd meeting is scheduled.
We have others who are teaching at local universities who will take part more starting in January when their classes are done.
Our Hosts keep signs, buttons, and shirts for new members. We do that as well. My husband keeps them in his pocket when he goes anywhere, and often gets asked where to get one. I don't do that, but it is funny he does.

I did something similar today, mailing ten letters to Iowa for Dean - costing me $3.70. It is money that the campaign doesn't have to spend, and it is reaching out to democrats and hopefully getting them involved.
I know that Clark people are doing the same thing.
I think it is so cool how people are discovering their power to take back the country.

How incredible would it be to pass these out at the meetups? We could do a VHS chain mail sort of thing....give out the video with instructions to make a copy and pass them on.

There are actually three copies available right now, in two different "definitions." I"m lined up to download them both, and anybody who is using Kaaza or IMESH or any of the Peer to peer things could do the same.
Seems like a slight better use of the technology than trading Grateful Dead tracks or porn.

I for one am anxious to enjoy the downfall of Rush. And to lap up every bit of his misery like a starved animal.....ok. I'm back now.

We have been amazed how active we have gotten. The mailing list should be something all meet-up groups have. It helps keep us inspired.

It took forever to get our DVD. I just ordered some more, but I don't even have an email from them verifying the order. Should not take as long.

17. It can be copied from DVD to VHS or to DVD. |
|
One person had the easiest set-up for copying it to VHS, so he did that first. The other will make about 5 DVDs from it.
That way we have both versions, because a lot of people don't have DVD players yet.
The first person made the tapes look professional by making labels from the original label and putting the tapes in clear plastic. Nicely done.
I think we could make a copy from our DVD player to the VCR, but the others have things set up for easier working.
If you have a DVD recorder on your computer, you should be able to make a copy that way.
