A Wrinkle In Hillary's Campaign
AND SO we gather to praise the old feminazi hunter himself. Rush Limbaugh has single-handedly brushed aside the blinding snow on the windshield and let us have another clear view of the double standard running down this campaign highway.

This week, our man Rush offered a lengthy monologue about an unflattering photo of Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire cold. He ended by asking the question: "Will this country want to actually watch a woman get older before their eyes on a daily basis?"

So it bears repeating, alas, that women still have to negotiate the Scylla and Charybdis of political life. If you're seen as an authority figure, you aren't seen as womanly; if you're womanly, you aren't an authority figure. By the time you tack through that narrow channel, you have -ohmigod - wrinkles!

In the 1990s, Hillary tried on more looks than Madonna. Now that she's arrived at a comfort zone, she's still studied for signs of cleavage, cackle and crow's feet. Since there's no whining allowed, she has to tough it out. At which point she's accused of being too tough. What a business this is. Come to think of it, maybe I'd prefer that bathing suit photo op. Only Rush, ol' buddy, you go first.

1. I am increasingly beginning to believe
That all the ridicule and hate thrown non stop at Hillary Clinton is starting to stir a backlash against it. There are a hell of a lot of women voters in this nation. And the way our culture works most who are over say 35 have had to at least contemplate gender based ageism in America, and more universal fears about and limits placed on the power accorded women in our society.

To listen to the type of trash Rush is peddling women should start wearing Burkas at age 40, maybe 50 at the max, unless they get a special permit from the "civic beauty police" to go uncovered in public up to age 60 (to allow for exceptions like the occasional Sophia Loren).

Much has been speculated in the past about closet racism shifting actual votes a couple of percentage points away from a minority candidate, compared to what people might tell a pollster before hand. Many years ago Mayor Tom Bradley of LA was thought to narrowly lose the California Governor's race over that. More recently people speculated back and forth about Harold Ford. I think closet racism is a rapidly waning force when it comes to distorting polls, but I predict we will discover something new if Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic Nomination for President: Closet feminism.

I expect many more Republican women will vote for Hillary Clinton than will openly admit those intentions to a pollster. And it will be the efforts of men like Rush Limbaugh that will help drive them to it.

4. I can't remember where I read it, but in both NY Senate races
HRC did better in the election than in the polling, so it's quite possible this phenomenon has already shown itself.

5. I Imagine Campaigning Will Take Its Toll On Anybody

I would compare it to a rock group touring minus the sex, booze, and drugs...

2. You nailed it! Let's see. How old is Rush now?
Born Jan. 12, 1951 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_Limbaugh). And Hillary, Oct. 26, 1947 (http://www.firstladies.org/biographies/firstladies.aspx?biography=43). Rush, did you forget already? You are only four years younger than Hillary.

Let's look at Hillary. Hmm. A couple of wrinkles here and there when she is tired. Probably has her hair colored and coiffed. Not extremely thin, but not overly plump either. I'd say, Hillary looks just right. Very healthy for a woman of any age.

Then there is Rush. Hmmm. Is that a double chin I see? And hair? Oops! What is left of it looks pretty grey. A full length photo of Rush is hard to find, but he appears to have quite a pot belly. Rush is not the picture of health. Looks like he needs regular visits to his doctor, a daily turn on the treadmill and a change of diet.

Rush, once you are over 50, you need to stay away from the age issue. Especially when you look older than Hillary. Rush, every finger you point at Hillary on this one, you point three back at yourself. Forget it.

3. We Are On The Same Page As Once
As a male I can say the double standard applied to males and females as they age is saddening...

6. Yuck, Rush giving advice about looks.
Makes me want to spew. :puke:

Now Hillary, on the other hand, I find quite attractive.

8. If she had plastic surgery, the HateWing would attack on that, too.
Unfortunately, looks are important. Richardson is too fat. Edwards has too nice a haircut. Obama has big ears. Dennis looks like Dennis. Biden has funny hair...
Some Americans will cast their ballots on the most meaningless of reasons.
